Jesus Christ. We really are in the middle of a fucking cartel war now, aren't we? This is bad.
So we find out the Niners are basically doing a coke deal with the Lobos, similar to the one SOA are doing with the Galindos (if I understand correctly). We convince the Niners to set up the Lobos, but when they do, they show up with grenade launchers. I'd say it was a blood bath, but I don't think anyone actually gets hurt. But then, the Mayans attempt to kill Leroy and some of the other Niners for working with the Lobos. However, Jax is able to keep the peace and get everyone to leave quietly.
As everyone is breaking up, though, one of the Mayan guys slips Clay a cell phone that can be used to hire the hit on Tara.
Meanwhile, Gemma heads up to Piney's cabin after she can't get in touch with him and finds him dead. I wondered if she would call Clay, Jax, or Opie. She calls Unser. They both immediately assume it's Clay. He says he out and cannot hide this or protect Clay anymore. So Gemma, knowing that he loves her, kissing him and asks him sweetly to help. And this shit works. He agrees to clean everything up and make sure none of this blows back on the club. Come on Wayne. I thought you were better than this.
But later, Gemma runs into Tara who accuses her of taking the letter.s Gemma admits she had Unser take them. Tara tells her she read them and doesn't want Jax to read them as they would be too painful for him. Plus, she's concerned that afterwards, it would push Jax further into the club and that's not what Tara wants. And Gemma clarifies for her, that Jax would kill Clay. They both decide that it's best of Jax not read the letters, and Tara tells Gemma she's heading up to Oregon with the kids.
After that, Gemma confronts Clay about Piney. She tells him she knows why he did it. But that she spoke to Tara and Tara isn't going to say anything. So please promise her that he won't hurt Tara or go after her. Clay agrees to that promise. (But it's worded very specifically about Clay attacking Tara. We know, of course, that Clay's got someone else to do it). And right after that conversation, Clay picks up the phone to call the guy who's gonna kill her.
However, what Clay doesn't know, is that Jax is planning to go with Tara. I have no idea what that means for an attempted assassination attempt, but it's got to be better for Tara, right?
Elsewhere, Chibs is worried about Juice. He brings it to Jax that he tried to kill himself. And Jax immediately tells him the club will vote him out and no one will trust him anymore. Wait. So he's gone through all this bullshit to not get kicked out of the club, but then an attempted suicide means he gets kicked out anyway? I'm no fan of Juice right now, but why would this make the club not trust him? If you're dead, you can't tell any secrets.
And still on Juice, Potter has pulled him into the room with all the RICO shit. As soon as Juice sees it, he start to beat the hell out of Eli. It's pretty cathartic. But he's told that they really want the Real IRA (who we're now back in business with) and if Juice can tell them when the meet is, they'll spare SAMCRO. I think it's time for Juice to talk to someone.
Oh, one more thing (sorry, this ended up being lone) Bobby approaches Jax about him leaving the club. He tells him they need people like him to be president, as Clay asked him to take over. I so don't disagree. I love Opie. I really do. But he's not president material. My money is on either Bobby or Chibs.
Ugh. Actually, also, Jax is planning on getting out now almost immediately. There is zero chance that is going to happen, but I still wanted to write it down. Lol.
