9-1-1 7X8: Step Nine

Dude. This episode was so good, but it didn't really seem like an episode of 9-1-1. Well, the flashbacks did, but the current stuff, not so much.

Anyway, the nurse that I guessed wanted to be a firefighter from last episode, was actually a survivor of the apartment fire that Bobby started. (So, not even close on that prediction). He shows up at Bobby's AA meeting and is compelled to speak after Bobby talks about how good his life is (because he's pissed and doesn't think Bobby should be allowed to have a good life).

Bobby decides that he needs to make amends with him, so he tracks him down only to discover he's working with some relief workers, but he's missing. After managing to track him down, Bobby finds out he's been shot, and he does the best he can to bandage him up.

However, the cartel shows up and steals Bobby's truck. They manage to escape just in time, but Amir is in a lot of pain and they have to walk, like, 10 miles.

Eventually, some of the other relief workers find them, just as Bobby is about to collapse from pulling Amir along. Later, in the hospital, Amir refuses to forgive Bobby.

While all this is going on, we've got flashbacks to Bobby's childhood. His mom and brother leave his alcoholic father, but Bobby decides to stay with him. His father gets worse, and Bobby ends up doing a lot of things a child shouldn't have to do. Until, one morning, Bobby wakes up to find his dad dead, having tripping and hitting his head on a coffee table the night before.
