The Vampire Diaries 2X22: As I Lay Dying

Holy mother fucking shit, you guys. How am I going to survive S3? This finale was everything I had no idea I wanted and needed. I thought it was mostly just gonna be finding a cure of Damon, and we'd worry about Klaus next season. But things have taken a turn.

Damon is hardcore dying. It's fairly similar to Rose when she was bitten by a werewolf. However Damon put her out of her misery. Something Stefan refused to do for him. He ends up locked Damon in the basement cell so he can figure out how to cure him.

Turns out, there is a pretty simple antidote. Klaus. Now that he's a hybrid, his bite will both turn and cure a werewolf bite. But, unfortunately, Klaus HATES Damon and has zero interest in helping him. Cue Stefan: he swoops in and makes a deal. He's rampage with him for a decade if he saves Damon.

Klaus bottles some of his blood and only after Stefan has drank a dozen (?) bags of blood, allows Katherine to bring the antidote to Damon.

In the meantime, Elena has been taking care of Damon and they have not been shy with how they feel about each other. After some confessions of love, Katherine shows up to cure Damon. She makes sure to throw it around that Elena has a thing for both brothers, just like she did.

And if next season is 'bad' Stefan vs 'good' Damon, I'm gonna lose my shit. 'Bad' Stefan is so much more fun to watch than 'good' Stefan. I'm so here for it.

However, I don't know how Damon is gonna play this. It feels like there could be three options: 1): He tries to help Stefan come back to himself because he's softer now and loves his brother; 2) He's thrilled that Stefan is a monster, it'll be much easier for Elena to fall for him as she likes the good vampire; 3): The tries to get Stefan back because Elena loves him and Damon loves her and knows it will make him happy.

Either way, we're 2/3 on trying to save Stefan, right?

Also, Liz, who is aiming for Damon, ends up shooting and killing Jeremy. Caroline and Bonnie manage to bring him back, but he's pretty much immediately haunted (?) by Anna and Vicki. I don't know what's that's about.

But, the real issue with this episode, is Damon. He's in agony after the werewolf bite. He tries to end his own life by taking off his ring and standing in the sun. Stefan finds him and saves him. He then locks him in the basement cellar to make sure he doesn't kill himself.

Elena comes over to comfort him as much as she can. Damon tells her he loves her and she doesn't reciprocate, but it's pretty damn close. Right before she thinks he's gonna die she kisses him and he thanks her.

Just then, Katherine bursts in with the antidote. She gives it to Damon and reminds Elena that it's fine to love both of them. After all, she did.

YOU GUYS. I have zero idea what to expect from S3. I just know it's gonna make me so happy.
