9-1-1 7X6: There Goes the Groom

For whatever reason, this felt very quintessential 9-1-1. Present to past, people almost dying but being fine, Dana crying a bunch. All the usuals. Honestly, I was shocked at this episode. After the 'teaser' for this in 7X5, I was not expecting this.

So anyway, Buck and Eddie show up 30 minutes late for Maddie and Chim's wedding (after having a Hangover-esque bachelor party without Chim). However, they have no idea where Chim is. No one has seen him in maybe 24-48 hours. Something like that.

We start re-tracing Chim's route to try to find him. And we (as the audience) find out pretty quickly that something is wrong. He hardly knows who he is, and is convinced it's 20 ago. On the plus side, every place we visit, we get closer and closer to finding him.

When a guy having a stroke (seizure?) plows his car into an outdoor market, Chim runs around doing triage for everyone. He's super calm and collected; knowing exactly what to do.

Chim is having a terrible time. He's hallucinating that Doug is tormenting him. And telling Chim he might as well just die. However, Kevin appears as well and convinces him to get home. Stumbling, barely conscious, Chim manages to make it back to his place, where Kevin's parents are there and finally call 9-1-1.

Turns out, Chim had contracted encephalitis on a call 2 weeks early and he had no idea. He's forgotten pretty much everything about himself. Once we get him to the hospital, things progress for him quickly (vintage 9-1-1) and he's fine. However, he and Maddie don't want to wait 3 weeks until he gets out of the hospital to be married, so they decide to get married there. It's very sweet.

In other news, Buck and Eddie throw Chim a bachelor party that he doesn't want (although, I think he was going to come if he hadn't been, ya know, dying). Tommy shows up and ends up getting pulled away for a call. But shows up right after Maddie and Chim get married at the hospital. Buck is so not awkward about this anymore. He kisses him beastly (I think that's the word they used) in full view of everyone. And then, we all find out because Buck is full of Tommy's soot. (I wasn't 100% sure when I watched it, but it was in the recap I just looked up, so I'm calling it so).
