School is back in session. Nick and Charlie are frantic to see each other. And Charlie plans a zoo outing for Nick's birthday. Everyone comes and mostly has a lovely time. Charlie is dealing with his own mental health stuff (which Nick tries to guide him through), and Isaac is upset that he's been the third wheel all summer. Just because he doesn't want a relationship, doesn't mean he should be put on the back burner.
After a fight with Tao, Isaac comes out to everyone as asexual and aromantic. He and Tao make up, and all is right with the two of them.
However, Charlie is not okay. Nick is trying not to harp on him (and every time he tries to talk to him about it, he gets shut down), but he 100% notices and is concerned that Charlie isn't eating, and is exhausted all the time.
Nick finally talks to Charlie about it. He begs him to talk to someone. His parents, a doctor, a therapist, anyone. Charlie is reluctant because his parents aren't that great. But, Nick tells him they can face them together.
The two of them face his parents. Charlie has a letter written out to speak from in case he gets nervous. He tells them he's been feeling bad for a long time, but now it's getting worse and he wants to get better. Will they please help him get a doctor?
We don't end up seeing the end of this. And I'm so afraid that they are gonna be mean to him. Well, maybe not his dad, but I'm super concerned for this mom.
