Burning of the Summer Palace - a short comic

This was a dream I recently had, and it was so funny I had to draw it out!!

This was probably not taught in western history classes, but during the 1800s, France, Britain, and several other countries formed the "Eight Country Alliance" that basically went around trying to colonize (and terrorized) China. I think USA and Japan were part of it too? It's almost like the grandfather of the current western geopolitics, but I digress.

I saw a photo on pinterest that I wanted to use as reference for a warm up, and also wanted to draw Bailin being all pretty and stuff. Drawing dudes in pretty dresses and make up is a comfort activity for me hehe

TRATW - illustration

A quick illustration as a warm-up using Waiting and Reaper! I'm trying more and more to incorporate a traditional art vibe into my artwork, since I'm prepping for my next comic, A Divine Masquerade, to be in a watercolour style. It's also very fun to experiment with, and takes a lot less effort to look aesthetic, hehe.

this is the full res of the illustration I did for my XP-Pen collaboration! It gave me a reason to revisit these characters. I'm pretty proud of how it turned out. It is simply miles better than the level I was at five years ago when I first created this story.

Mr Renfield fan art

One of the movies I watched on the plane during my recent trip was Mr. Renfield. The only reason I clicked on it was because I like Nick Hoult hehe. This was a pretty mid movie but it was fun enough to pass the time, and I've always liked stories that explores vampire lore.

Anyway, I played this movie three times on the plane while doodling this when I couldn't sleep. The gratuitously fake gore and violence was oddly inspiring and fun to draw ldsflksf

Bailin - qipao gown

Got an itch to draw Bailin in a qipao - so here you go! I always want to do more of these kinds of drawings for patreon but it's been hard to find the time and motivation. I want to draw Bailin in more dressesssss he's supposed to be very pretty :3

I'm also practicing this new "watercolour style" for the next comic I want to start after I finish the first arc of Fathoms of Atonement!

This was kind of a headache to draw but it's finally done! I feel like it could be better but for the life of me I can't figure out how to improve it, so this is probably as good as my current skills can make it for now.

I did a human version and a chibi version (the last two images), they're full res so you can download them for wallpaper usage if you like.

WIP - Bailin and Li Yun, new cover!

New chapter cover for Webtoon! I'm starting a new arc soon, and with Huilin in the cast now, and new characters coming soon, it's time for the cover to reflect the change!

It's a bit of a deviation from the usual scenery with Bailin and Li Yun. This is a bunch of lab equipment with all the characters in chibi form. I think it's a good representation of the coming chapters!

I lied, this is the last one!! These were soo fun to draw, omg. It's a really great exercise for me as an author to sort of explore and solidify their personalities in my mind. You may have to zoom in on them to see the details of their individual quirks.

I'll probably do one more week of this. I took sooo many photos on this trip I'm having such a hard time choosing which ones to use T__T

The first one is the Xinjiang International Big Bazaar, where we went on Chinese New Year day. We went super early to bypass the crowd hours. It was really really cool, there was a naan museum, traditional dancing performances, and loooots of street food, which I should have taken photos of ahhh (I was too busy eating)

Zaundads - letter illustration process

High res of some more illustration I did, for a scene I wish we could have seen for the alt universe where Silco finds Vander's letter. I've also included the line art, as well as the very first iteration sketch I did, which was hella bad but I'm posting here because it's interesting to see the first attempt of anything, which usually never comes out right anyway. I almost gave up on this concept after that first sketch but I'm glad I didn't.

Candids from recent China trip - part 1

I went to China last month and traveled all over the country with some friends! I had this brilliant idea of just taking photos and then drawing Bailin and Li Yun characters in them - it's a fun way of showing where I've been without posting photos of myself, lmao. Another recent illustration I did for Zaundads plus initial sketch. This was an image that was stuck in my head after hearing "What Have They Done To Us" from the arcane soundtrack and it was really fun to do!

 Plus a couple high res versions of the first zaundads fan art I ever did, the night I finished both seasons. Wow, these two characters compel my art juices so intensely!

Full res png, sketch vs final! It's been sooo long since I've done a full fan art illustration for a ship, and this was really really fun. I wanted to animate the rain and the flames but man that would have taken more time and energy than I was willing to spend so I left it as a still.

Did you know in the second season, when Jinx found Silco's jacket inside Vander's jacket, that was a reference to Brokeback Mountain??? I totally missed that. What an incredible and angsty detail

It's supposed to be such a romantic and sweet scene, but it's so iconic that it's funny to me now. The dazed, smitten, puppy-eyed look that Matthew Macfadyen portrayed in that shot....... so, so good
