I enjoyed this episode more than I enjoyed the last one. That might be because it was better, or it might be because it was a Bobby centric episode and those always seem to be lovely.
So, the Santa Ana winds (which I wish I lived in) tend to cause craziness to occur. Sure, some strange calls; a Murder House that keeps calling 9-1-1, a sleepwalker who manages to drive a car that isn't hers into the 118, a merry-go-round of severed body parts. But, as per usual, the best parts are with our friends.
Chim is on of the people who responds to the Murder House. It's been empty for years due to the fact that people think a triple homicide occurred there, but it's actually not true. Chim becomes obsessed with the house and eventually brings Maddie there. When she realizes an actual family used to live there, she seems on board. It looks like Chim and Maddie are buying the Murder House!
Denny has questions about Eva that Hen and Karen sort of reluctantly answer. But, as time goes on, they feel more comfortable telling him things. He tells them that he's not looking for another mom and that he loves them. But he finds a folder that Hen purposefully tried to keep from him. Turns out, he wasn't looking for another mom, but his dad, who he goes to see at the end of the episode. On the plus side, I feel liek I remember his dad being reasonable. He didn't want to disrupt the family that Hen and Karen were building with Denny and he was happy to leave well enough alone. Hopefully, that's still the case.
And then we get to the crux of the episode. The Bobby stuff. At the beginning, his sponsor comes by and tells him he'll be off the grid for a bit, and could Bobby check in on anyone in AA who needs it. Bobby agrees easily, but seems concerned about him. Later, after the 118 respond to a small fire, Bobby finds him burned to death under the rubble. He's got a syringe next to him. A couple asks Bobby a bunch of questions about the fire, but he doesn't think much of it.
However, he later realizes that the spot of the fire is very close to a rehab center. it also turns out that Bobby got a voicemail from him where he was obviously high. Bobby and Athena wonder if maybe he was using again and on his way to rehab. Bobby goes to the rehab and tries to check it out, but due to privacy, they won't tell him anything. As he's leaving, he sees the owners of the rehab are the same couple who spoke to him at the fire. He's immediately suspicious.
Also, the Santa Ana winds are keeping everyone awake, so we have a delightful shot of everyone on the phone together. Plus, this is where we find out that Buck's friends are pregnant via his sperm. I'm nervous for him. He's already got a LAFD onesie for the kid. What if they don't want him to be part of the kid's life? Buck is already attached.
