Sons of Anarchy 1X5: Giving Back

I think this might be my favorite episode so far. It was easy to follow. And I really love Opie, so that had something to do with it, I'm sure.

So, we've got Gemma holding this fundraiser. And Kyle, someone that was tossed out of the club, wants to come because his son is in the band. His ex brings it up with Gemma who asks Clay to hold a vote on it. In the end, they agree to let him come, but not all the members are happy.

When Opie and Kyle finally come face to face, they end up in a fist fight. (Even though neither of them look that worse for wear. Sigh.) After hashing it out, Kyle tells Opie and Jax he's got some stolen shit they might be interested in. They agree to talk about it later, but it's obvious a plan is in the works.

Shortly after, they see that Kyle is still sporing his giant ass SOA tattoo on his back. This infuriates both Jax and Opie.

Donna, who is still upset that Opie isn't actually all the way out, ends up talking with Jax, who tells her that Kyle got kicked out of club because he left Opie standing with the bag. Which is why he ended up going to jail. Kyle was the getaway driver but stranded Opie. So, they tossed him. Donna is shocked. She knew none of this because, you know, Opie's not a rat. Jax tries to talk her into being okay with Opie coming back.

While all this is happening, we've got some chronic masturbater that the club sort of has to protect until they can get some money from him. However, it turns out that he's playing them and doesn't actually have the 400k he claims to. He's actually a counterfeit artist, so they end up handing him over to the Chinese in exchange for some cash.

When they all get back to to the club house, they start plying Kyle with beer and then get him into the garage. Once there, they tell him to take off his shirt. Apparently, leaving meant he was supposed to blackout the tattoo which he didn't do. So they give hime the option of burning it off or cutting it off. He chooses to burn it. It's a pretty great scene. Made even better by the fact that Jax was kind of the perpetrator in this instance. Yet another wrinkle in the Jax puzzle. I mean, I get it, but it's still so interesting to watch his mind at work.

We're also got Tara realizing that ATF guy is here and that her restraining order is useless against him. But, we've also got Gemma and Jax sort of realizing that something is up, so hopefully, she'll be fine.
