Felicity 4X9: Moving On

OMG. This episode felt like it was 12 years long. It was just so slow and didn't want to end.

So, Felicity asks Noel if he wants to get together and talk. He agrees, but immediately after rescinds, and claims he thinks they should both be trying to move on.

Felicity is not thrilled with this info and just wants to wallow, but Javier reminds her that they've got plans to go see a play that night. She tries to get out of it, but he won't take 'no' for an answer. He then, plans the same game with Ben, effectively tricking them into going to the show together. However, when they show up, Ben has brought Lauren along as his date. Felicity gives Lauren her tickets and leaves the two of them to it.

Elena, meanwhile, is trying to set Felicity up with a different art TA. Initially, Felicity tells him she's not interested, but then changes her mind and they set up a date. While he's on his way to pick Felicity up, he runs into Ben who is heading over to study with Elena. As soon as Ben realizes she's moving on, he wants to talk and starts babbling on her machine. However, shortly after this, Lauren calls him and tells him she's in danger of having a drink and he invites her over. While they are on the couch making out, Felicity calls back and leaves her own rambling message.

I really do like the two of them. I just don't think they are good dating partners. They never seem to be their best selves at the same time when they dating each other.

Felicity actually has a good time on the date, but at the end of the evening when he kisses her, she realizes she isn't ready to start dating yet. He's super kind about it, and tells her that she will be someday, even if it's not with him.

In other news, Noel is trying to work through his depression (which he isn't convinced he has), but wants to do it without medication. However, by the end of the episode, it does seem like he might be a little more open to it.

Comments

That's a good point. And I can't disagree with it. I really loved S1 of this show. But all the seasons after just feel kinda blah. Not enough to make me stop watching, but I'm not really excited about it week after week. I've been blaming it on the fact that I only watch it once a week, but I don't think that's it anymore. Honestly, at this point, my favorite character might be Meghan. Mostly because she might actually do something exciting. Lol.

Idk, I just don't feel like anyone is the best version of themselves on this show. Have we seen them at their best? They could all be better. This show is more plot driven than character driven (unlike OTH and other coming of age shows). These characters have been pretty much the same since they were introduced. They're stagnant. Honestly, I feel the same about every character since I met them. It's season 4 and they're still messing up and still figuring out who they are and what they want to do with the rest of their lives. It's the college experience. Not too much beyond that. Felicity with Ben, or Noel or Owen or whoever is just an aspect of her life, but they are not really shaping her life and vice versa.
