9-1-1 5X9: Past in Prologue
Added 2024-09-18 20:00:06 +0000 UTCSo, I'm still having issues with the Buck and Taylor relationship. That said, I'm really trying to get over it. If Bobby is okay with it, I should be okay with it. Plus, I really want Buck to be happy. However, it's hard knowing what she tried to do (and would have if the station wasn't attacked by LAFD lawyers). I wonder if we got this episode to help us feel more sympathetic towards her. I can't be the only one who still feels resentment toward her.
In this episode, we have her getting weird and distant with Buck, and him being sure she's gonna break up with him. It turns out, her dad is in jail for killing her mom and she's got to go to the parole hearing. Buck offers to go with her, but she declines. He shows up anyway and it solidifies their relationship.
Okay, if we're gonna solve a mystery, this is how to do an episode about it. Bobby and Athena, roleplaying a 30 year old robbery at a casino, yes please. Plus, any excuse for Athena to wear a slinky dress is okay in my book. And I love that they figure it out because Bobby knows the correct hight for fire extinguishers. Lol.
Hen ends up with a patients who is her mom's long lost love. They were going to run away together and leave Hen's dad, but her mom found out she was pregnant with Hen just before, and changed her mind. Hen tried to reconnect them and her mom was not pleased. But after discussing it with Hen, they end up together. It was sweet. And the ending to this episode overall, was super sweet.
Um, maybe Athena and Bobby should take May's key away. Or at least, she should be knocking and not just waltzing right in!

OMG. I didn't think about it that way. I just assumed that Bobby knew. But it makes a lot of sense if he doesn't know at all. Ugh. That's so much worse.

2024-09-18 21:23:00 +0000 UTCthis has always been my biggest issue. why do they insist on making buck’s love interest someone who hurt his family or intended to? it feels so ooc for him to want to date someone like that in the first place. like i love buck so much but it does make me question his love for his found family and lose some respect for him.

It just feels like they want us to forget that which is dumb and a disservice to her character and even Buck, because it is hard to believe he would date someone who wanted to hurt bobby

2024-09-18 20:59:00 +0000 UTCyou’ll get them back soon. i won’t spoil when but it’s soon. for me the taylor thing is like what hen said to chim about the tatiana situation - “i’m your friend, she’s your ex. you get to forgive and move on, i get to hold a grudge until i die” and that’s how i feel. like if we actually found out she apologized maybe but we’ve never seen taylor apologize. it actually bugs me that she even interacts with bobby at all. at least contain her with buck. like that one episode with the treasure hunt when she was in bobby and athena’s house, i wanted to scream. i’m not a very forgiving person to people who don’t apologize to the people they’ve hurt especially when we care about the people. also i just realized bobby probably doesn’t even know that she intended to air it because buck told him she didn’t because she liked him and it wasn’t until buck later confronted her that she admitted she had every intention to use it.

I assume they didn't know she was going to end up as Buck's love interest earlier on, and now they are just ignoring what she did. I think we could really use a scene between her and Bobby where they hash things out. But we never got that.

2024-09-18 20:56:33 +0000 UTCOh i totally agree on that. I didn't like the way she handled things, but I think I just feel bad for the character a little because they write her so badly. Like they gave her that intro and then set her up as a love interest? It is almost just setting her up to fail. I don't like her much at all though, just hear a lot of hate for her and it just gets me mad at the way they wrote and created her character more than at the character herself.

And, honestly, as the wronged party, I think it's okay to look to him for how to handle the situation. I really thought we were gettin Maddie and Chim back in 5X10 (which I just watched), but nope. 😢

2024-09-18 20:52:37 +0000 UTCAnd I might be biased the other way, because I'm from a family of addicts and feel, maybe more sympathy than I should, for people who live with that disease. I can agree with that. If they just hadn't played up that angle of evil reporter in the beginning, (and they really didn't have to) this would not be an issue.

I just have some sympathy for the character because of future stuff (you probably know what I mean but no spoilers) and hate the way they wrote and handled her. Like again I don't like her at all, but just kind of hate the way they wrote her more

2024-09-18 20:49:53 +0000 UTCi don’t think the bobby thing was relevant to anyone’s safety. if she actually cared about the public she would have done something about them all getting high and being out on a call but no she just stayed to film bobby. like let’s film him getting pushed off the wagon and almost commit suicide because he misses his dead daughter and broadcast that to get ahead in her career. i just think it’s smarmy and i can’t respect that.

2024-09-18 20:47:04 +0000 UTCif anything this episode made me dislike taylor even more. she didn’t want people telling her story so she decides to become a reporter and tell other people’s even against their will like she wanted to with bobby? sorry but nothing will ever make me like her after that and 5a having two episodes with her at the center was the worst thing as a live viewer. it felt endless especially with no maddie and barely any chim. i love when we get fun bobby and athena content though like this one and omg did athena look stunning in that dress 😍

I don't like her much either (neutral just like Buck's other girlfriends), but I think the whole "evil reporter" thing they tried to do was dumb in the first place. Like I like the characters at the 118 and don't want anything bad for them either, but its hard for me to be upset that she wanted to share info with the public. Idk I have a family of journalists so maybe I am biased but I just never could get upset over any of the stuff with her wanting to tell the public information that could be relevant to their safety. And yes omg Athena is so hot in that dress, it is crazy.
