One Tree Hill 1X6: Every Night is Another Story

I was so confused at the beginning of this episode. It was nice to see that everyone else was confused as well.

Ugh. Now, I totally want Haley and Peyton to be BFFs. We can totally get rid of Brooke. Also, I want Keith and Karen to get together. I didn't really have any hints before this episode, but we got a big one here!

Dan continues to be an asshole (I have no idea why Deb stays married to him).

And we got a bit of a glimpse of what it would be like if Nathan and Lucas could get along. It was actually kind of delightful.

Hello! Welcome! This was such a fun episode. I totally agree, it's one of my favorites so far! I'm loving this potential Payton/Haley friendship. And honestly, Brooke, as much as she annoyed me, was good for some comic relief.

Yeah, the further into this show I get, the more I feel for Nathan (that does not mean I excuse all the shitty things he does, though), and the more I get apoplectic whenever Dan is on screen. I cannot handle my rage just seeing his face. I can see your point about Brooke here. Also, she is totally growing on me as a character. (I'm up to 1X14, setting up for a binge in late December, and planning to offer more episodes per week in January, so I'm trying to get ahead). I wouldn't want to be her friend, but she's much less unlikeable to me now.

(1) This is the episode where I started to have a real heart and empathy for Nathan when I first watched this show. This is the moment when we find out the depths of what Nathan has had to go through. Sure his dad was tough on him with Basketball and I believe that had a horrible effect on his mental wellbeing. Also we do see some of the physical abuse like when Dan brutally body slammed him on the Basketball court and there was one time in like episode 1 when Nathan was lifting weights. He was getting up to stop but Dan roughly shoved him back down. But to hear him speak so raw and vulnerably about the truly horrific physical abuse he had to go through is heartbreaking. (2) I love Brooke in this episode. That character brings a lot of fun comedy relief especially in this episode. (3) Dan is just unrelentingly obnoxious. He's truly so horrible! The way he's constantly obsessing about Nathan's scores in the game in this episode. Like let it go! Dan has nothing to say to Nathan that doesn't involve Basketball. If Nathan didn't play Basketball, I'm sure that Dan would just completely ignore his son or find some other outlet to completely berate his son.
