VIDEO: The REAL Story of the Mormon Church

We’ve put a lot of heart and soul into this video which is overtly a very personal story for Johnny to tell. I was really honoured to get to help him tell this story, to be so emotionally honest and raw about such a huge part of his life and formative years. We wanted to stay as neutral as possible on this story, telling it beat-for-beat as seriously as it's told to those who were brought up in the Mormon church, without leaning towards mockery or heavy criticism. Equally, we wanted to flood this with as many Easter Eggs as we could for those who, like Johnny, have left the Mormon church.
Karla’s animations really took things to the next level (as per usual with Karla!), using AI imagery and clever depth map animation to create some incredible renders with a psychedelic quality to them. We also were super lucky to get two ex-believers, Jared and Alex, working on the The Doctrine and Three Kingdoms animations. They are visionary visual artists, so to get their fingerprints on this project is so exciting.
Tom Fox maybe made some of his best work here with the Joseph Smith Soundtrack. hard to say for sure, because Tom has made so much insanely good music; these tracks definitely stand out highly for me because he encapsulates the wonder and mystery of religious movements whilst still sprinkling in an unnerving quality.
I really hope you enjoy the longest video we’ve ever made! Its been a pleasure to work on and I hope that shines through.
