The elevator of this building has, ever since the shrinking first started, been a prime location for the women who enjoy a quick crush, as there is no other way out for the Mants to exit the building ... nobody uses the stairs these days, so the doors remain shut.
Megan had spotted one of her tiny neighbors trying to escape in the reflection of the elevator mirror, and crushed him flat beneath the sole of her heel whilst talking to her other neighbor, who was completely oblivious to the scene unfolding beneath her interlocutors shoes.
And there was no real way to tell the difference, as a couple others had been crushed just an hour earlier by some eager students getting home.
