Interesting one this one - wasn't sure how to attack it at first from a colour standpoint, so I decided to go in with greys and paint anything where I absolutely knew what the colour had to be. Then, as you'll see in the final piece, I laid in just enough colour/lighting into the scene as to what felt right for me.
Lots of fun working with reflections in this piece - not only in the latex but also the chrome of our Machine Goddess (which is what 'Machina Deam' means when translated from Latin) I find it particularly satisfying painting in the little reflections of flesh tone and other objects in the room as I deconstruct in my mind what would be reflected by which surface and how - there's a lot of making it up as I go along and going with what looks right, balanced with specific considerations such as how would, say the flesh tones on our nurse be reflected in the chrome of the skull on the back shelf, for example.
A fun piece to do and really interesting because of all that chrome. Pleased to get this image out of my head and freed up to work out what's next.
Have a terrific weekend, everyone
