Apologies for the late posting this week - we had a short vacation over the Easter weekend that was really enjoyable but meant I didn't get much time to draw for a few days. I feel like I've hit a generally sustainable schedule and want to get back onto it as it keeps me consistently painting and hopefully provides you generous folks with a regular feed of updates and images.
So, anyway, I'm back to it with this image of the "Inseminatrix". I was meditating the other week and my mind wandered off and suddenly this exact image bubbled up from my unconscious...which meant I had to draw it.
I can remember as a kid being frustrated that I could never create pictures of the ideas in my head. Many years later, having put in the hours of practice to get to a reasonable level of competence I really enjoy having the ability to paint these images, especially these incredibly personal ones that this project encourages me to depict.
It's an interesting exercise - sometimes the image is crystal clear (like this one - I could see the pose, the background, the composition, even the model of gasmask) and at other times I'll only be able to visualise a small part, using that as a basis, filling out the details and working out the rest of the scene as I sketch it. Either way it's an interesting puzzle-solving exercise and one I'm enjoying working through.
