Well, as you can see from this one, I went with one plan for the background and gradually, over the course of the painting made a course correction.
I'd originally aimed for baby blues in the background to contrast with the pinks in the foreground but the more I painted our patient and her voluminous bundles of pink latex the more I realised I wanted to make everything softer and pinker. The original inspiration for the painting was a desire to make something cuddly, voluminous and pink, so that's where I headed.
It's interesting painting coloured latex in comparison to black latex - there's almost a luminous property to the material and getting the balance right on this painting was an interesting but fun challenge.
I think the next piece is going to go heavy on black latex and gasmasks...a complete contrast to the fluffiness of this one!
