Pacifier - Process
Added 2022-07-03 17:40:02 +0000 UTCFor some reason or other this weekend gave me a whole heap of time to crack on with this painting, which was satisfying for me as the sketch process on this one seemed to take an absolute age.
As ever, I dove in with the background first, then working up our helpless patient and her transparent layers. After that I decided to work up both nurses at the same time - their identical outfits and similar stances made it quicker and easier to work in this way.
With everything in the image rendered I then devoted a bunch of time adjusting the contrast, adding in secondary lighting and colour casts to parts of the scene to bring more subtle colours into play and bring all of the elements together.
What began as a bit of a struggle to get going turned into a fun piece to take to the finish, and as you'll see from the final variants in the next post, a heavy rubber version snuck in in the last few minutes.
