Medusa emerged as an image during one of my daily meditation sessions - almost the inverse of the look of 'Salome'.
Not sure precisely where she came from but for this project I'm doing my best to never question myself or self-censor - simply to go with it and explore as honestly as I can the images my subconscious creates. As such this is as much about improving my technical skill and producing art as it is about a journey of self expression and discovery, and Medusa represents that as much as anything.
What is becoming quite a revelation is that the ideas and the image don't appear to be drying up - as if rendering one of these visions into an image creates more space in my imagination for another to emerge. I know this is the case with concepts - in my IRL work I do find that if I have a thought/idea rattling around in my head I write it down - that 'banks' that idea and frees my mind up to find the next one as my brain is no longer putting in effort to hold the existing idea. Until I embarked on this project, I didn't know that it would work for such a personal exploration into my own psyche.
I have to spend at least today doing some IRL commission work - a piece of video game cover art. But this evening I'll be laying the groundwork for my next piece - not sure what it will be yet but as soon as I have a sketch for you, you'll be able to see it.
(Lots of options here in terms of ideas that evolved during painting and options that were necessary to create to allow me to post on Instagram. Hope you find ones you enjoy)
As ever, thank you for your support - the subscription fees are helping me pay for web hosting and the fact that I have you as my supporters cheering me on and giving me someone external to be accountable to is giving me that extra impulse to keep going, to keep honest and keep working on this project.
Hope everyone has a great start to the week. Thanks once again and stay shiny!
