Earlier this month Neon_Noir got in touch to commission this piece - a host of vintage latex nurses prepping to inflict some devious torment on a helpless rubber-clad superhero.
This was a very detailed brief with a lot of specific requirements and required a LOT of planning before I could get to painting. And there were a few revisions and additions towards the end as I got everything balanced.
I decided to paint this piece landscape and in a 16:9 format as Neon is a huge movie buff (Matron is a very conscious nod to Nurse Ratched from Cuckoo's Nest) and it seemed the best way to get a panoramic point-of-view shot and the maximum amount of nurses in the scene.
A technical challenge for sure and with many characters it took quite some time to paint but enjoyable nonetheless, especially in trying to get the vintage feel in both the environment and costumes while also making everything shiny.
Time to go back to painting another one of my original pieces to cool down!
