So I think I'm there with the sketching. Decided that Miss Nikki is definitely in a predicament here. But after putting her in the picture, the tricky thing is figuring which kind of predicament - indicated by whatever our nurse is holding in her hand and any additional 'equipment' that Nikki is subjected to.
Well, I had about 8 or so ideas for what Nurse P could be holding (insertables, restraints, masks, you name it) - each drawn on a separate layer. I wondered what kind of Heavy Rubber take I could do on the pic, which lead me to draw up a massive piece of headgear, that would likely be under the control of our medical professional. (As well as a gas mask for our nurse too!)
Right now the painting comprises of about 30 layers containing different elements.
It's interesting working this way - exploring multiple options and seeing how by changing a few elements the 'story' that's told is a different one.
Time for me to consolidate the sketch layers and begin painting in the 'flats' individual silhouette layers that while not the most exciting part of my process helps me isolate different areas of the picture sets me up for the fun part - doing the rest of the painting.
