This image came from a dream - a very sexy one at that - being dressed like this and lead down the 'Stallion Corridor' by two nurse-like figures.
Which comes to the question of the gender of characters in my paintings. I'm male and straight and my wiring means I'm attracted to feminine features and I enjoy drawing those things.
But, for me the power of the latex masquerade allows body shape and gender to be played with in the most delicious ways. Stepping outside of our ordinary selves and being someone else while at the same time exposing an intimate part of ourselves is profound. Being able to share that with another that you trust too is a privilege that not everyone gets to do, but for those that can, it is to be treasured.
So please feel free to interpret my paintings, the characters in them and the scenarios they present as you wish.
I just know, I'd absolutely love to wear that outfit.
Things I found an interesting challenge in this piece were drawing all those statues so they were recognisable in the scene but didn't distract from the foreground. Things I found really fun to paint - the transparent latex - really working to try and get that blend of opacity and gossamer thin silkiness right.
And of course, I had to do a heavy rubber version, because, you just have to...right?
P.S. 'Hedone' is a Greek word meaning 'pleasure' - I had the image in my head so had to come up with a title that hinted at the delights that unfortunately the dream I had promised but didn't quite deliver on - sadly, I woke up far too early...
