Giant Guest Art Compilation ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

jhbjhbjbhjhj i love y’all so STINKIN’ MUCH ❤️😭❤️

1-3.) a kickASS 3 panel comic birthday present by patron gamigami, also known by their deviantart handle stimpower! 💗 Gami is so fucking talented y’all. 😤 They thought Mal would have kind of an overbearing dynamic with Axel (not inaccurate), particularly over hair care. Mal hopes to bond with her bitty kitty by showering their mane with lots of love and product and appreciation for their natural hair, as Mal’s own parents did not know (or care) how to manage Mal’s natural hair and instead forced her to style it in a manner they deemed suitable. Axel, being a kid, would rather be doing literally anything else. Good thing papa Topher’s there to style Axel’s mane into an ubercute low maintenance ‘do while also giving Mal a mega maternal crisis

4.) fanart of Iggy by dear Iowasi! Not only is this absolutely SICK ⚡️,but Iowasi drew it lightning quick after I first posted Iggy’s ref, and was still feeling hella shy and nervous about the sona switch up and going by new pronouns. Iowasi’s drawing made me go “Look! That’s me!” 🥹

5.) incredible fanart by the truly phenomenal MustLoveFrogs/Kaemantis (patreon here, furaffinity page here, highly recommend!!💗) It’s our large and lovely gal Eva in the ‘80s, incorrigibly hitting on Frog’s own hippo hottie Hip Horowitz! 😍

6.) a guest comic by our own delightful owlcoholik! Featuring a saucy sketch of our favorite slutty scalie, and also a comic featuring some good old queer repression with Honey Meadowsweet and owl’s own smug sensible sapphic, Georgia. Owl had this to say about Georgia:

Georgia Bryant grew up in a large fundamentalist family where she never stood out for much. The most recognition she got was when her parents discovered her kissing another girl during her Freshman year of high school. She was swiftly shipped away to a religious boarding school, which took special care in curing her of her “affliction”. She graduated the school with a high school degree, a husband, and a burning passion to “help” others wrestling with the same demons she once did.

Owlcoholik’s patreon is here (link goes to more Georgia art), and all posts are currently free to view! Go check it out, owl is a spectacular artist, with insanely creative character designs!

Thank y’all again so MUCH *screams into pillow* ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Thank you! And of course! Frankly, I'm already beyond grateful and delighted to have this incredible patreon audience, our own little pocket community on the internet! 🩷 So for people to want to draw or write my characters on top of that???🩷🩷🩷 Blows my mind, of course I'm gonna hype y'all and your art up!! Like full disclosure full cringe I get emotional just thinking about it, haha 🥹

All this guest art is awesome, and I love how encouraging you’ve always been of people drawing/writing fan content with your characters.

Being animals, they don't really have a race. I'm not interested in doing so, and I also worry that it's very easy to fall into problematic territory when one creates a story where different races are analogous to different animal species. Neverrrrr want anybody coming away from Fuzzbutts thinking something like "oh, so this species is a metaphor for X human race" because NOPE. We ain't doin Zootopia. This said, I definitely do something called racial coding, where characters are very clearly inspired by real world racial/cultural identities. Mal is a leopard, technically she has no human race, but she's very expressly coded as a black woman. Eleanor is coded as black, so is Neith. Honestly I write many (most) of my characters from my own perspective, which is highly influenced by my racial/cultural identity and my environment, which means that even if a character doesn't seem/isn't explicitly coded as black to y'all,....they're still black to me, lol. I'd do humanizations sometime, buuuut tbh I'm still getting over how many people got upset with me when I did MLP humanizations years ago and dared to make their fav horse a minority, or even (gasp!) fat. So FB has MLP rules i guess, unless a character is clearly racially coded then u can headcanon em as whatever race u want, or no race at all. I'm fascinated that you're reading Isla as latina, because uhhhh I was going for like, a cartoony count-chocula incomprehensibly-vaguely-european sorta accent. With the typical "hissssssing" speech affect that lots of cartoon lizard/snake characters have. Like i said tho she is free to interpret however you want

I have a strange question for you, Mx. Iggy. What do race/ethnicity to do view your characters as? I'm guessing Mal is of African descent, and Angel is Hispanic - possibly even Isla - but what about the others? (If you don't feel like answering this question, please don't feel bad. I was genuinely curious if you imagine certain characters a way. They are amazing all the same, no matter what!🥰)

Okay I know Axel hates sitting still but I feel like they’d do this thing one of my summer camp kids did- Gets their hair done in those giant plastic beaded braids, runs up to their nearest favorite adult and goes ‘LOOK WHAT I CAN DO’ And shakes their head vigorously going *CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK*

Morghann Patterson

*hyperventilating* This is all some good good good stuff
