I've never found an animal-person story that used different species as analogues for human races and had it NOT be a horrible accidentally racist mess (Maus being the sole exception). Animals in FB are never a metaphor for racism, I try to keep things vague, like Beastars does. Still, other species absolutely do get fetishized by the public, and horses are very popular for this reason. Horses, bunnies, and foxes are very recurrent in pornography, and it's kinda unclear whether their presence shapes the public's desire, or whether their popularity is instead caused by public demand. Horses are big, and thus tend to have proportionately big junk. Horse culture glorifies strength and hard work, and horses view the masculine ideal as fit and muscular, soooo they get fetishized a lot, particularly by smaller species who find oversized dicks a novel experience. Horses have mixed feelings about this fetishization, as it tends to get paired with the common "herbivores are dullards" stereotype, so they get typecast as dumb brutes only good for their big dicks- dicks that are only big compared to smaller animals. Not to mention, the fetishizing sets an expectation that horses may not be able to live up to, as their bodies vary like any other animal. A giant clydesdale may have a small penis, a miniature pony might have an anaconda in his pants. Maple is indeed fetishizing horses, and she'd say she only means it in a positive way, but there really is no such thing as positive stereotyping. Some horses would take offense, some horses wouldn't care, some horses would be down to clown with her.
