Concept Art: Pawberry Acres

as i've been spamming y'all with furry content i eventually noticed something was...off. I was introducing all these characters and their stories without really touching on the actual world they live in. With fanart, especially MLP, a lot of the fun is that the setting is already pre-established, so you can play with the characters like dolls in a sandbox. And that's fun! But I think years of doing it kinda atrophied my world-building abilities. I'll be making more of an effort now to flesh out the various settings of Fuzzbutts. :3

FB is primarily set in a vaguely Boston-like metropolis called Critter City. This is where most of the characters reside, including Skye, though she didn't always. Miss Skye Shepherd was born and raised in the fictional city of Dogdale, on a big ass strawberry farm. Despite being the last born of her litter, Skye is the most responsible and driven of her siblings, which is why her mother Strawberry intended for her to eventually take over the farm. Skye, not especially keen on picking berries in the middle of nowhere for the rest of her life, went "lol nah" and moved to the big city when she turned 20.

Mama Strawberry is definitely holding a grudge about this, and has put off her retirement in the hopes of eventually guilting/badgering Skye into taking her rightful place at Pawberry. Strawberry is the kind of mom that loves her pups with every ounce of her soul, and worked hard to give them a better childhood than she had, buuuut she struggles with being vulnerable or open or saying "I love you" or "I'm proud of you". She is extremely blunt, which usually comes across as mean. Skye desperately wants her mother's approval and is perpetually frustrated that her old Ma can't ever seem to say anything nice about Skye's job or hair or boyfriend. Dammit, Ma!

notes: 

-I tweaked Shadow's design, hope his flirty fuckboy-cowboy personality shines through a lil better. Nobody in Skye's family is a purebred, they're all a big genetic mishmash of collies and shepherds and herding dogs. Of all the siblings, Shadow is closest to Skye and wishes she'd take all the responsibility of inheriting the farm off his hands. He misses her, but isn't good at expressing genuine emotions, so he too tries to badger her into moving back home. Shadow is casually dismissive to Sunny, whom he calls "goldilocks", viewing him as a spoilt scrawny city-slicker. Sunny spends a lot of their interactions trying to impress the guy and prove he's just as strong and tough, usually failing miserably (to Shadow's amusement).

-Skye's siblings (whom will probably all get updated designs) are often spread out working across the farm property, but can communicate quickly over large distances through howls and barks.

-Strawberry owns a pellet gun and her current pastime seems to be using it to spook off aspiring social media influencers trespassing on her property for pretty selfies. Sunny finds her absolutely terrifying.

-Having lived away from home for years, Skye has lost her country accent. This was somewhat deliberate on her end- though her accent comes back in full force when she's excited or angry (especially at her family). Much like her Ma, Skye is pretty creative with cusswords.
