May 2023 News

Patrons,

It's been a while since I've written one of these... I think. I've been working 10-12 hour days ever since I started writing Severing Time & Space, so I haven't had much time and I've been mixing up my days.

I hope you've all been doing well!

As of chapter 319, Severing Time & Space volume 7 has come to a close, and volume 8 will begin.

Volume 8 is the start of Act 3, which will be the concluding act for the first half of this series. I'm planning a lot of reveals in the next act. There will be twists upon twists. It's gonna be like reading a pretzel. Er. It'll be twisty. Very twisty.

Anyway.

Because there are now 7 volumes worth of content, I'm going to begin doing the revisions and edits for this series. I tried to do that before, but as you may have surmised, I was unable to keep up the pace. Writing for 6 hours a day, followed by all the other things required of me as both an author and publisher, left me unable to actually edit my story. Matters only got more complicated when you add audiobooks and webcomic work on top of it all. I quickly exhausted myself.

I plan to start writing 1 chapter a day instead of 2 for STNS. Sadly, this does mean no second chapter today. I apologize for not producing more content. This is to give me the time I need to really go through my story and give the previous volumes the attention they deserve. While I think STNS is okay, I know it could be so much better. Aside from just fixing grammar and spelling errors, I would like to tighten up the plot and remove all the continuity issues in my story.

If any of you would like to help, please go here.

Severing Time & Space Problems

This is the form to fill out when you find plotholes or continuity issues. Let's say Wu Jian says X in chapter 10, but then he says Y in chapter 20, which directly contradicts X from chapter 10. That's a continuity issue. My memory being as poor as it is, I do have trouble keeping my plot straight, which is why I'd like to ask for your help in fixing this up.

I plan to re-upload the fixed chapters as I finish them. Chapter revisions generally take 2-3 hours depending on how much I need to fix.

That's really all I have for now. I plan to renew the password on my Patreon tier rewards within the next few days. You should get an email if you're Yuki-Onna Patron and above.

Thx for all your hard work and the update. Definitely take any time you need to avoid over working yourself. Its better to feel your job is something you enjoy to do rather than feel obligated to do.

Thank you for the support!

Thank you. I really need more time to revise my story. Sadly, there are only so many hours in a day.

Ha, what they said. Thanks for the great content!

This last volume was amazing. And slowing down is fine if it keeps you from burnout. You already put out more content than most on Patreon.

No worries. If you are going to collect then together, I'll probably wait. I tend to do that with some of y'all. Read the original draft and then read the book or whatever once it's published that contains all the corrections and edits and such. Yeah I had it once too. Took me several months to really recover from working 60 hour weeks for a few months with weird schedules.

Thank you! I plan to hopefully post chapter updates every day after I finish writing a new chapter. I just hope I can pull it off. ANd yeah, burnout is bad. I've had it before and it left me pretty dead.

I'm happy you enjoyed the volume. I did my best to tie all my disparate plots together. Of course, I left some threads hanging because they're part of future plots, but I'll solve those in the next act. And thank you. I really want to begin writing better quality work. This story isn't bad, but it could be so much better after it goes through rewrites. It's just a rough draft right now.

I'm looking forward to re-reading this series once you get everything tweaked and published. Will be nice to be able to have it as an ebook and/or physical copy if you're going to go that way. Like the others said though, do what you need to do to not burn yourself out. That can take a long time to fully recover from.

Volume 7 was just as good (if not better) as the previous one's, can't wait for the next chapters. If you need to write 1 chapter instead of 2 to be able to work on other things (like rewriting the previous chapters, adiobooks and the like) then so be it, I enjoy the stories you write and although I will miss the double chapters, I will enjoy the chapters nonetheless, so take your time, I became a patron for the quality, not the quantity. I plan to re-read the series so if i find some issues, I'll use the form for this. See (or read :p) you later and have a wonderful day.
