November 2nd Newsletter! On writing and anime!

Hello patrons!

This is the second newsletter of November... I think. I wrote a first newsletter, right? Right?!

Ahem.

Anyway, Incubus 4 has finished and now I'm taking all the comments people have posted and making changes to the manuscript based on them. I should be done soon. Then it's off to my editor. The story will remain up for this month. Next month, I'll begin posting chapters for the next A Most Unlikely Hero volume!

There's not much to say about my work right now. I've been... working hard. It's more than just writing these days. Since no longer being exclusive with Amazon, I'm having to learn about advertising, marketing, newsletter...ing...is that a word? Anyway, I'm basically studying all the things I neglected because I can't rely on Zon and their wonky algorithms anymore. It sucks, but I don't want to risk having Amazon terminate my account over someone stealing my stories and posting them online again.

To take the edge off the frustrating tedium that is studying, I'm watching as much anime as I can whenever I have a free moment. I've just finished a re-watch of Sword Art Online seasons 1, 2, and the Ordinal Scale movie. I never saw seasons 3 and 4 and couldn't remember what happened in the previous seasons. Now that I am refreshed, I plan to finish the series. Of course, I'm also watching quite a few seasonals. Mushoku Tensei continues to reign supreme as my favorite, but Banished From the Hero's Party is hitting that sweet spot for my romantic needs. Also, Rit is hot AF. I'm so jealous of Gideon.

Are you watching any anime right now? What are you watching? What do you like about it?

Comments

Probably not. Manga are costly. I am paying my American Kitsune artist around $1,400-1,600 every month to make it. I can't afford to pay another artist that much. I'm not making enough money for that.

So I'm wondering is there or will there be a manga version of the Wiedergeburt books coming out?

Andy Holewinski

The anime has been pretty much spot on to the LN. The fact the studio was created to make the anime helps with that

Daniel Glasson

LOL Steven. I too am watching all of those things you've mentioned plus a few other Chinese ones as well. I'm having a lot of fun with the assassin one its following the manga pretty closely. Kicked out of the hero's party to is one of my faves. I also noticed that the anime weakest to the strongest is coming out with a second season in the winter or no in January, excuse me. And as an aside I can't wait to start reading a little more of a most unlikely hero that's one of my favorite as well. 😁😎

I’d say that’s fitting descriptor (TokyoPop lists Fantasy, Leading Ladies, Slice of Life). Even though think I recall in one place they labeled SciFi which I wouldn’t really see Persay

Two big scenes that had a lot of it in the manga and LN were missing it in the anime. Don't want to say which specifically to avoid spoiling for our nonmanga/LN viewers

Daniel Glasson

I would personally like to see Berserk of Gluttony get made into an anime.

It's my current favorite light novel series.

That's a slice of life if I'm not mistaken.

I think they just haven't reached that point in the series yet.

Note that the rankings were current as of post, but change over time.

MyAnimeList web pages: Top Airing Anime, Top Upcoming Anime, Top TV Series, Top Movies, (basically all the Top links), & Most Popular Anime are good places to start looking for good anime. How about stories by other authors you would like to see made into an anime. What’s your favorite story(s) by another author(s) you would like to see made into an anime?

Steven Alexander

I haven't been watching much anime recently, but I most certainly agree that Mushoku Tensei is among the best (at least based on the LNs, which I've been reading as they come out in English)

Arthur V.

Banished, My Senpai is Annoying, and I have a few others of the upcoming dubs I’ll pick up. And working through my DVD piles (Really loved finally getting around to watching Aria the Animation)

Banished from the Hero's Party is awesome. I love how they made Ares seem just as slimy as he did in the LN/manga. I am glad they cut the brocon stuff down a bit in the anime
