I found a sad little native bee all cold and torpid in my curtains this morning so I mixed it up a meal of sugar water and put it outside in a hidden place where birds wouldn't snap it up.
If you ever rescue a bee and want to give it a little calorie boost before you set it free, use only white sugar. Brown has compounds in it that may be bad for the bee and honey might carry devastating diseases like foulbrood.
