Wow, that took longer than expected! But, finally, the new Forge servers are online and available to use for new users, You can expect in the coming days to have your own games migrated automatically to the new servers.
I was hoping to get this done before March 31st, but look at that, a month later and I finally got it working the way I want it to. There's still more work to be done, but now I can move on from the small server I had for beta testing which grew so big that I couldn't reboot it or increase its capabilities without some downtime that would have affected everyone. This has been my frantic attempt at fixing this and improve performance dramatically, as well as work towards the future where I can scale as needed when it grows. I've also learned a lot during this, but now I'm very happy to be able to go back to actually working on the website features themselves.
Once you move to the new servers, you'll notice how fast things are immediately. Loading an FVTT game would take a couple of seconds instead of the 30-40 seconds we see now. There's also a new server located in Europe (Amsterdam) to give you that extra few milliseconds improvement within the game itself after it loads. And I will add another one in Asia (Singapore) as soon as funds/user-base permits.
I've announced the scheduled maintenance for Monday 27th at 1AM EST.
You can read all about it, with details about some of the quirks you can expect in the next few days here : https://forums.forge-vtt.com/t/the-forge-moving-to-new-servers/967
The demo game is now on the new servers, if you want to test that out and see how fast it loads for you.
This is phase 2 of my optimizations (geo distributed assets library being the first), I still have 3 more phases planned, and by the end, I'm hoping to have the fastest running Foundry games on the planet :)
I leave you with a screenshot showing the status of the storage cluster. It will grow of course as the user base grows, it's still quite small relatively speaking, but it's a beautiful sight to behold :)
Thanks for being patient with me while I sorted out these issues, and have a nice weekend!
