Hi again,
I've worked on improving Arcane Viewing, especially the user interface and I hope this version will make a lot of you happy as it has the number 1 request I've received : the ability to pop out the individual feeds and place them wherever you want.
I've received some really good feedback so far, though there were a couple of issues for some people, overall, I think Arcane Viewing is a success!
There are a few improvements in this version, but here's the short list :
I think the main reason that some of you may have been put off in trying this is the need to turn on SSL, so here's a very quick guide on how to achieve it (note, this will use a publicly available SSL certificate that is self signed, so while it will allow you to use https/ssl/arcane-viewing, it won't make the connection any more secure than http) :
It's that simple... Even though to have a properly secure https connection you would need a domain name and a properly signed ssl certificate by a certificate authority, you don't need all of that if it's just to try out Audio/Video calling.
Tomorrow and next week I'll be working on improving the features themselves rather than the UI (ability to control who can/can't share their video or audio, adaptive bitrate to handle low bandwidth scenarios, auto-reconnect in cases of network loss, etc..) and I will also work on the server side to have a more solid server implementation and add the TURN server in my config as well. I'll also be adding authentication and will contact you later on how to create a username/password for using my provided server.
Note: The 'video in the token' feature shown in the above video is still a work in progress and is incomplete so it's not currently available, but the next version will have an option to enable/disable that.
Thanks again everyone for your support, and I hope it works flawlessly for everyone, or at least, that more people can test it and report back to me if anything doesn't work perfectly!
