I have a guy at work that tries to preach to me once in a while. I asked him the why, why does he believe what he says is true. And the answer was bible of course. But, he refused to carry it further, refused to defend it on any details because he had a spiritual belief in it's truth. Which I have come to translate as "I know I can't defend it, I just want to believe this stuff." Not everyone gives a damn about rationality unless it supports their irrational, or non rational, views, like this wench. This particular guy comes at me every now and then, though with everyone working from it's rare we meet at the office. I look forward to it every time because he starts super confident and then turtles up when asked any questions. Not even being rude, confrontational, it's an office conversation after all. And I make sure he brings it up, not me. Anyway, I think they know they don't have solid ground to stand on typically, they just want to be part of that crowd.

She would leave us all alone. The thing where they says rape doesn't matter to an atheist is really irritating. We atheists have morals we were raised with and taught and that we have thought about ourselves. We follow our morals because we have internalized them and want to do what we think is right. We also want to stay out of prison, of course. We are the moral people. Christians are the immoral ones. They are doing what they think will get them heaven and will keep them out of hell. Just like Abraham, they would be willing to stab their own son to death if they thought their god told them to. I wonder what they would do? Follow their god's orders, or kill their son and go to prison? A person who has really thought about their lack of belief in a god would probably call a psychiatrist if they "heard a voice" telling us to kill their son. I'm not claiming atheists are perfect, we are just as faulty as anyone else, but we are genuine.
