Past Lives (2023) Uncut Reaction!

Great reaction man, hope you watch About Time one day. It’s an all time favorite of the Drama/Romance genre. It’s about a romantic relationship of course but the true heart of the film is a father/son relationship which I’m a sucker for.

Another film with some similarities I'd highly recommend is DRIVE MY CAR 2021

I love watching James trying so hard not to cry 🤣 so happy you noticed the storytelling of the camera work, when Arthur says "You Dream In A Language I Don't Understand" it hits me evey time its one of my favorite lines in cinema, and when he's waiting to hug her at the end 😭 such a perfect film thanks again James

Great reaction, great movie. My 2nd fav of 2022 (after Anatomy of a Fall), I cry every time. I have so many things I could say about this movie but I wont post 1000 words lol. You wouldn't know this was Celine Song's debut, she's a playwright and based the character + story on her own life. Funnily enough her husband wrote his debut screenplay, which became Challengers (the Zendaya movie) which also contains a 3-person complicated romantic situation... hmmmmm........ 👀👀 You picked up on so many of the shots and callbacks that took me a couple watches to get. The use of long takes is fantastic, down with fast sloppy cuts! I LOVE how they subverted and directly addressed the "evil white husband" trope. They do such a good job of having Nora's scenes with Hae-Sung feel romantic and Nora and Arthur's scenes feel mundane, but they've been dating 12 years and married 7... it's not going to be as electric, it's real. A worse movie would have injected unnecessary conflict. Instead we get this real, raw portrait. In-Yun indeed. Maybe the "grounded" film you're thinking of in the outro was Aftersun, I remember you having a similar take there.

Favorite film of last year so glad you finally got to see it, such a beautiful story/ film and the soundtrack by the legendary Daniel Rossen and Christopher Bear Its just so perfect, thanks for the reaction James ✌

I just heard someone talking about how much this movie messed them up. No idea what it's about myself tho.
