Some films I actually seen in theaters myself this year. Only seen them once though.

2023-04-13 23:30:21 +0000 UTCKeep the faith - it might get its reaction one day. But I agree. Location plays the lead role in a lot of Australian New Wave cinema. Walkabout (1971) and Wake in Fright (1971) both spring to mind. Like Picnic at Hanging Rock, location looms large over everything, and I really loved how each of the directors (both non-Australian) gave their outback settings a genuinely mythic - and unnerving - power. Walkabout is worth watching for a completely unique film experience (it's also notable as legendary Aboriginal actor David Gulipilil's first film).
