And wow, I can tell you haven't even watched 21 Jump Street if you don't think Channing Tatum can be funny. One of the most surreal turns in acting history is seeing a guy known for play soldiers, tough guys, and jock douchebags be able to vibe with Jonah Hill and act wittingly awkward along with someone at Jonah's calibur was quite a sight and one of the highlights of the movie. I even saw Magic Mike with my ex-gf lol. The man ain't dumb and he has many talents.

2021-01-10 08:18:24 +0000 UTCI mean when you have stuff like Blue Velvet, Gattaca, Suspiria, Barry Lyndon, and Paris, Texas on the list. But then throw in some random junk mediocre movies most people don't remember, but enough of the general population probably does over the aforementioned cinema buff's favorites. So using that method is going to guarantee more lame and unworthy movies of reacting to.

2021-01-10 08:15:31 +0000 UTCIf it wasn't originally a comedy they certainly tried to make it one with Joe Pesci's annoying character. There's a few humorous moments. I mean come on it's the franchis where Danny Glover says his famous catchphrase "I'm getting too old for this shit" and everyone laughs and cheers just like in the old sitcoms.

2021-01-10 08:12:10 +0000 UTCYou realize Lethal weapon was not a comedy, right? Lethal Weapon is certainly dated but I mean come on, Channing Tatum? Also agree Nice Guys is not a must watch for any reason.
2021-01-10 01:56:52 +0000 UTCYou probably know this but just for the record a twin movie is two movies that cover very similar plots released very near to reach other. Tombstone/Wyatt Earp Whitehouse Down/ Olympus is Falling Armageddon/Deep Impact
2021-01-10 01:49:12 +0000 UTCQuite the common phenomenon... https://twistedsifter.com/2013/04/strangely-similar-movies-released-around-the-same-time/ When I saw "The Nice Guys" listed on the pole I was thinking it was the Will Ferrell/Mark Wahlberg movie. I don't think anyone considers them twin movies, however. But I'd bet on it being funnier since it actually has comedic actors in it.

2021-01-10 01:38:46 +0000 UTCI've only seen Lebowski but looking at the other two they don't seem Noir or even Neo-Noir. Nice Guys and Kiss Kiss Bang bang look like two mediocre pieces of garbage I wouldn't even look at twice while passing by the VHS box in the Blockbuster. I think people have these fond memories of movies they watched a long time ago, especially for the first time, and never again. Try watching it again and see how you feel. I just rewatched Goodfellas and Django for the second times the past two days and Goodfellas definately seemed dated as hell, almost as if I was a kid again in the early 90s watching some gangster flick from the 40s. "Keep the change, ya filthy animal". Django still held up a bit but as time goes on it resembled more and more of the trash movies from the 70s that Tarantino has a morbid fascination with and not even like homage or having anything witty to say about society and it's relationship with gore and violent sex in film.

2021-01-10 01:17:51 +0000 UTCSo why now are we doing a less funny version of the buddy cop movies that no one even remembers, with two guys admittedly not playing their style of role? BTW, Unhinged with Russell Crowe is simultanously ironically and unironically funny and awesome, an above average thriller that much like Joker, Parasite and Borat 2 ... will come to define the year 2020.
Michael R
2021-01-10 01:05:59 +0000 UTCA lot of the films on that list are, compared to what I've seen vocalized in the comments section on Youtube. I guess the patrons opinions matter more, but as they should. However, if it continues to go in this direction I'm cancelling the patreon. I looked up Nice Guys as I'd never even heard of it (damn, how could I forget ANOTHER attempt at the buddy comedy genre from 10 years ago with a trailer that would have cricket's going on while it were playing at the theaters). Also two great actors, but I take back what I said earlier about Gosling's range as I didn't even mention something too far off from his usual type of character. I'm sure Crowe and Gosling in a movie like this are "slightly charming" and perhaps elicited some forced and genuine laughter here and there. I looked at the IMDB and Amazon and it seemed to have a around a 7 average. Metacritic confirmed it at 7. I was kinda cringing and smirking at the same time as I ordered the reviews by user reviews from highest to lowest, that being 10 to literally a few 0s, and just seeing that spectrum of people being excited about it to people thinking it was complete dog poop was amusing as heck. But yeah, I mean, James JUST did the buddy cop thing, and he did it the best way of any reactor. While everyone else was doing Lethal Weapon, which is an incredibly dated, unfunny and boring movie with one film lead many don't like these days... our boy James comes out with reactions to two of probably the top 20 comedies since 2000 - THAT WERE PARODIES AND HOMAGES TO THE BUDDY COP GENRE AND MOVIES THAT GEN Z (WHO USE THE INTERNET MORE THAN US MILLENIALS PROBABLY DO THESE DAYS) remember these two movies - 21 and 22 Jump Street - and know the actors. And if you want to talk about real acting range that blew people away, Channing Tatum was simultaneously a genuinely funny guy which was completely unexpected.

2021-01-10 01:03:59 +0000 UTCThink you Called it, Nice guys is stunningly mediocre in this group.
2021-01-09 23:46:37 +0000 UTCKiss Kiss Bang Bang is fantastic. Revitalized Robert Downey Jr's career. Also Val Kilmer's best performance by far. Hilarious movie.
2021-01-06 19:55:20 +0000 UTCIf you've seen it already, don't let it win. Suspiria and Blue Velvet are the best options for more views, if you want my opinion. Do your thing though man, big fan and I only patreon to you and the lads at Cinema Rules
Michael R
2021-01-06 19:47:54 +0000 UTCThe Prestige may be basic among movie nerds, but i'd say it's one of Christopher Nolan's under-appreciated movies, and I love it

2021-01-06 11:19:43 +0000 UTCWim Wenders is my one true film love. I might have recommended this already, but please watch Wings of Desire, if only for your own enlightenment. I think you would really appreciate the cinematography and his poetic story telling.
2021-01-06 05:42:39 +0000 UTCThe Prestige was the better of the two.
Brittyn Lindsey
2021-01-05 20:33:10 +0000 UTCYou should do a triple noir video and watch The Nice Guys, The Big Lebowski and Kiss Kiss, bang bang! Compare how each movie handles the genre.

2021-01-05 19:01:24 +0000 UTCWow, so many voting for The Prestige, I thought it was ok but the most interesting thing about was it was a twin film with The Illusionist.

2021-01-05 02:27:05 +0000 UTCMore people are voting for THE NICE GUYS than The Big Lebowski?!? While that movie was a good time, it’s nowhere near the classic of The Dude. You got some interesting Patreons...
Brittyn Lindsey
2021-01-05 02:07:05 +0000 UTCA great movie to react to is The NIghtingale !!!!!
Franchesca Giglio
2021-01-05 01:51:58 +0000 UTCPlease vote Gattaca! It's such beautifully shot scifi film. Even though there are some heavy hitters on this list I'm hoping it will make a Thursday Jame's pick.
Sonia Deepak
2021-01-05 01:24:24 +0000 UTCSince The Prestige is already the clear winner, and it is a great movie, I'll spread some love to the hangers on that haven't yet gotten the YouTube reaction attention they deserve: "Lola Rennt" is a great high energy/high concept movie by a young director, "Blue Velvet" is 100% full on David Lynch classic. And "Gattica" is a slow burn but very steady what I would call 'classic' SF, a 'what if [science thing]' story just like 'Eternal Sunshine'.

2021-01-05 00:14:00 +0000 UTCPLEASE VOTE THE NICE GUYS YOU NICE GUYS

2021-01-04 19:12:16 +0000 UTC100% The Nice Guys for me - I went full Mandela effect here, I totally thought you'd already done that..
Martin Nicholls
2021-01-04 18:48:04 +0000 UTCWhy it’s time for The Assassination of Jesse James to win a poll: - Sir Roger Deakins is James’ favourite cinematographer and this is, in my opinion, his best work. The best-looking film I’ve ever watched. - James has mentioned that he has played Red Dead Redemption, and the Red Dead creators included some scenes that were directly influenced from The Assassination of Jesse James (especially an early scene involving a train robbery) - It has what I consider to be Brad Pitt’s best performance - It’s a very sad, very well-acted, very well-told story - Sir Roger Deakins was just knighted by the Queen of England last week for his services and a celebration of his legendary career with a Jesse James reaction would be fitting
2021-01-04 17:54:36 +0000 UTCI'm really torn. I'd say Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, The Nice Guys, or the Prestige
