Comments

'The Game" with Michael Douglas

Eldarth

300

That was SO creepy. It generally got bad reviews but I really enjoyed it. Cinema Rules recently had it on one of their polls!

Brittyn Lindsey

GREAT film

would love for James to start dipping into some older classics like this

Pi

True Romance

Xander Merrick

Oculus (2013). Great horror movie that uses a lot of camera tricks and good editing to create it's atmosphere. Not sure how well know it is but it's my mission to get someone to react to this one day

Yes, we must keep pushing this

Michael R

Might be a weird watch but Harmony korine’s gummo would make for quite the reaction.

The Cell I'd call it a psychological crime thriller. Don't let the fact that it stars J-Lo and Vince Vaughn worry you, they do great. It also has Vincent Donofrio who is fucking amazing in everything he does. Very visually intense, very adult themed, a dream-manipulation type sci-fi genre.

Cifer

Life in A Year

King of Ghouls

First Man

A.J. Workman

The film "Incendies" by Denis Villeneuve.

Shadday

Great choice, beautiful film. Who needs a big budget when you can create something with so much heart on a shoestring.

2old4gamez

The Sting with Robert Redford and Paul Newman. Con artist scheme set in the 30’s

Terry V

The Fall is a much better story than The Cell. The Cell just has good visuals, but I thought the acting was pretty bad.

Brittyn Lindsey

A Clockwork Orange

William Ehlmann

"I Saw The Devil" is my one movie I'm suggesting, apologies for the rant

Michael R

William Friedkin's To Live and Die in LA (1985)

Penultimate Tommy Wiseau

Agreed, this movie, Pineapple Expres and Tropic Thunder will be the Airplane, Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, etc. of our generation

Michael R

"Adaptation" is the better Kaufman/Jonze flick

Michael R

He should watch "The Cell" first

Michael R

You saw "Oldboy" now you need to step it up and watch "I Saw The Devil" (it's hard for me to decide which is the definitive Korean Revenge masterpiece between the two). I'd say Akira but you seem to know anime so you've probably seen that. I agree with previous commenters on "The Interview" (one of the best comedies of 2010s IMO) and "The Fall" however I'd say watch Tarsem Singh's previous movie "The Cell" with Vincent D'Onnfrio, Vince Vaughn and J-Lo. Yeah, yeah, odd cast for a serial killer movie but it works and the visuals are amazing.

Michael R

Watch pet cemetery (original) 😁👍🏻

Jonathan thomas

Ronin (1998) Robert De Niro and Jean Reno. Great Action/Thriller

The Current War The Director’s Cut

Cody Price

the fall (2006)!!

"Sexy Beast" Directed by Jonathan Glazer. (Under the Skin) Ben Kingsley kills it as the villain in it. Underrated af.

Chaplin (Robert Downey jr), Gandhi ( Ben kingsley) or, The Mission (Robert deniro) !

Tombstone was a tie so I hope it will be back. New movie... Legends of the Fall.

Celes

Burning (2018)- simply incredible Korean psych thriller/made lots of year end top 10 lists and won lots of awards a few years ago. You won’t be disappointed at all

One Cut of the Dead

In the Mood for Love (2000)

Angie

Gattaca. Such a great film and I've never seen anyone react to it.

Kero-chan

Old school vote: "M", a Fritz Lang masterpiece :)

one more vote for whiplash from me!

Nishant

The Negotiator (1998)

Charles Davies

Someone suggested Paris, Texas, I would like to stay on the theme and add Wings of Desire. It's my favorite movie of all time. Beautiful both in story and execution.

Ocean’s Eleven

"A History of Violence" 2005 with Viggo Mortensen, Ed Harris, Maria Bello, and William Hurt.

Gattaca (1997) please! It's such a scifi classic with beautiful cinematography and such a great soundtrack.

Sonia Deepak

Mad max Fury Road, Into the Wild, Incendies, Boyhood, Stalker, Son of saul

'Once upon a time in the West'. Sergio Leones most epic spagetti western, shot in the USA after his successful dollars trilogy. Tarantino asked composer Ennio Morricone to score The Hateful Eight because of his work on these films 40 years earlier.

Paul Steffens

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood! From the great Quentin Tarantino, need to see more of him on the channel!

Mitchy D

Seriously, this one will garner the most "oh my goodnesses" and "what the hecks" of any movie you've watched up to date.

Jason Cooley

I’m still going to push for you to watch Climax (2018). One of the most unique films in recent memory. A technical marvel!

Whiplash

Whiplash, one of my favorite movies by far

Adaptation

George Inotowok

The social network

Ghost in the Shell (1995)

Everyone seems to be mentioning either the same films or more mainstream films, I'm going to recommend a hidden masterpiece. A film called Runaway Train, starting Jon Voight and Eric Roberts, written by Akira Kurosawa, quite possibly the greatest prison escape film ever made. Most have never heard of it, but those who have know how great it is, u will not be disappointed in this reaction James

Red Tail Zephier

whoops. one movie. dr. strangelove. sorry about that.

michael anderson

adaptation, dr. strangelove, full metal jacket, raising arizona, russian ark, spirited away, crouching tiger hidden dragon, jakobs ladder (the original).

michael anderson

If you finish the Guy Ritchie roll with Rock n Roller, then that leads nicely into dead man's shoes wit Toby Kibbell 🍿👍🏻

Ancestor of Freedom

Spotlight

Mister Lou

Blade Runner!!

Jack Diaz Doherty

Darjeeling Ltd from Wes Anderson.

Jody Nelson

Cult classic Boondocks Saints(1999)

Daniel Howard

Ink (2009) by Jamin Winans

Chad Crayton

The Fountain

Dan Hensley

Chinatown (1974, directed by Roman Polanski, starring Jack Nicholson & Faye Dunaway) is a brilliant neo-noir that any cinema connoisseur should see. I don't really understand why there aren't many (any?) reactions out there; I guess it's just too old and people simply aren't aware of it anymore.

Lemur

Shootem up

Stephen husuc

The Devil's Backbone

Andrea Saldana

I second that question !

Coleyra

Another Guy Richie movie based off the tv show from the sixties with same name "The Man From UNCLE". Watch at least one episode of the original show first so you can see how much Ritchie appreciates the source material.

I'm not a tall man, but I am a disaster

Assuming The Assassination of Jesse James isn't leaving the polls (because it's going to win at some point), and assuming you haven't seen it, my recommendation would be Dead Poets Society. One of the few movies that's gotten a tear out of me. If you have seen it, then Primal Fear (1996) would be my second choice. One of, if not the finest performances from Edward Norton. I know he killed it in American History X, but Primal Fear was his first role and he schooled everyone else in that movie.

yes such a fantastic film

k c

One of my favorites of Ryan gosling

k c

River phoenix movie, running on empty

k c

The Master. By Paul Thomas Anderson!

Jovanni Ruiz

Looks that Kill with Brandon Flynn and Julia Goldani Telles. It’s an dark romantic comedy. I went into thinking I wouldn’t like it but I really enjoyed it. It was one of my favorites of the year

Emma B

Victoria by Sebastian Schipper

H.

The Way of the Gun

Michael Keefer

Michael Frotton

Suspiria

Sean Turner

YES! More people must see this perfect film.

The Fountain (2006). It’s so underrated. One of Hugh Jackman’s best performances, and gorgeous effects and interwoven story by Aronofsky.

The Thin Red Line (1998) for the peak of war movies. Terrence Malick is an auteur who I'd love to see somebody discover for the first time.

Grunwalski

The Lobster

Christopher Thwaites

The Master!

Jordan Porter

The Road --- Viggo Mortenson Or The Battery: It's a super low budget indie zombie flick that most people probably haven't even heard of and likely won't win a poll. Nonetheless it's quite the treat and a good example of a great film that you can make with next to nothing and 2 weeks to film.

Chelsea Warkentine
