Other things it has going for it are the interesting directorial history of the movie in that one director was leave and the second director was really rumored to be more of a co-directorship between George Cosmatos and the star Kurt Russell. It was a twin movie having come just months before Wyatt Earp with another amazing cast. Tombstone is also a great example of walking the thin line of creating historic fiction that doesn't follow exact history but use it find characters, setting, and plot for the film mackers to explore and tell their own story.
