(Timeline Tuesday #196)
Heartabites are aggressive, predatory creatures from a nearby timeline. They stand approximately four feet tall, with four tentacle appendages. They have a large, sharp-toothed mouth and four eyes. A heartabite’s tendrils protrude from the creature’s central body, which is red, bulbous and heart-shaped. This shape is also part of what gives the heartabite their name.
Unfortunately for those who might assume this species has a predilection for love or mercy, disappointment awaits. Heartabites are ferocious hunters. They are carnivorous and constantly on the prowl for food, scampering along on their muscular tentacles at incredible speeds. They can also use these mighty limbs to climb, often preferring to lie in wait and then drop down onto their prey from above.
What heartabites are mostly known for is the powerful venom of their bite. Anyone who falls between the jaws of this creature will immediately find themselves with an elevated heartrate, and if not treated within five to ten minutes, any victim will likely succumb to a heart attack. Unfortunately, this venom is also quite valuable, providing surges of dopamine and excitement in a very small does. It also offers a steadfast cure for erectile dysfunction.
Because of the value of heartabite toxin, these creatures are a common target for big game hunters and poachers, who are often no match for the cunning predator.
