(Timeline Tuesday #123)
Egglords are a species of incredibly powerful invertebrate from a distant timeline. They are light purple in coloration, a hue that covers the entirety of their long, thin bodies. This creature sports a head with two eyes, a nose and a mouth, and are moderately intelligent. These creatures are known for the hovering cracked eggs they hide within, and while their oval shells are not technically part of an egglord’s body, they’re rarely seen without them. In fact, removing an egglord from its shell is believed to quickly drain this species of its energy sustenance and will eventually kill the egglord passanger.
The power of an egglord comes from the creature’s mighty timeline modification abilities. Egglords can control minor acts of fate, such as prompting the roll of a die to hit a desired number, or to cause a glass to fall off of a counter at some specific time. While these effects my appear to be caused by psychic energy, they are not.
It is believed this minor fate manipulation is due to the fact that egglords are infant gods from another world, cast away from their timeline for some unknown reason and sent here. Whatever a full grown egglord is capable of is likely much more than these creatures can manage in our reality, and it appears their existence on this timeline causes a significantly shortened lifespan. The average egglord lives for five to six years, never growing much longer than they begin, and never leaving the safety of their shell. They do not procreate, but more egglords continue arriving from their home reality, which creates a small community.
Some believe every egglord that arrives is technically the same egglord, although this theory has not yet been confirmed.
Egglords do not speak, but seem to vaguely understand human language. They are a kind, curious species.
