Windials are a species of large reptilian animal. In many ways they resemble the dinosaurs that once roamed the earth of our timeline, and they are likely from some variation of this period that broke off onto another layer of reality. They walk on two feet, with smaller clawed arms positioned on the front of their bodies. They also sport a long swinging tail, a ridged-back and are covered with scales. Windials are typically orange and yellow in coloration, but can sometimes be found in a distinct shade of lime green. Green windials are often found in warmer climates.

The most distinct thing about a windial is not its body, however, but the creature’s head. The skull of this creature is separated and hinged at the front, allowing the back of a windial’s crinium to open and close at will. This section of the creature is hollow, made up of a large sack that can pump and pull massive amounts of air.

Windial’s use this strange ability to hunt their prey, mainly large insects and birds. When a windial identifies its target, it will take aim and then blast an enormous, pressurized gust of air in that creature’s direction. Flying animals caught by this eruption will likely lose control and crash. Usually, the force of a windial’s gust is so hard that this crash will kill the prey outright.

Windial’s are typically cautious around humans and large predators, but in some rare cases these creatures have been domesticated and tamed.
