RAMOUSE - TIMELINE #96227

(Timeline Tuesday #108)

Ramice are a species of rodent from a nearby timeline, and in many ways they are nearly identical to the mice of this reality. The creatures are small mammals, covered in hair and sporting a long, slender tail that extends out behind them. They crawl and scurry on all fours, often building nests in an area where they can find ample food scraps from careless humans. Of course, ramice also live in the wild, but this is not their preference as out in the forest they are much more apt to encounter a dangerous predator who is ready to gobble them up.

It's here we encounter one of the most obvious differences between a mouse of this timeline and a ramouse. While standard mice have few attributes to defend themselves, opting to dart away at any sign of danger, ramice are slightly more aggressive thanks to the sturdy, curled horns atop their head. These horns are large in comparison to the rodent, and their appearance is quite similar to that of a goat or a ram.

Ramice can use these horns to charge at predators and slam into them with a shocking amount of speed and power. While this is rarely enough to kill a larger creature who seeks to consume a ramouse, it’s certainly enough to scare predators away or make their attack not worth the effort.

Because of their rarity, ramice are sometimes seen as a welcome guest. However, they pose the same health risks as mice and rats and should be removed if a home infestation is discovered. In addition, anyone who finds their walls filled with ramice will be in for a long night. Along with the expected squealing and scurrying, ramice will endlessly clash their horns together in various social acts within their pack, leading to a quiet, but endlessly annoying clacking sound.
