(Timeline Tuesday #104)
Pigments are a rare species of swine who are native to a nearby timeline. They exhibit many of the features and tendencies of natural pigs, however, there is a distinct difference in their appearance.
The head of a pigment is instantly recognizable, but there is a stark distinction in the eyes. The creatures see through strange white marbles, organs that are so vibrant they often appear to be glowing or glinting with light. It is believed these special eyes help pigments see on their own timeline, a place full of colorful hues where variances between colors can mean the difference between life and death.
The rest of a pigments body is a clear indication of the world from which they emerged. Their torso is striped with thick bands of color, each one evolving across the creatures body to hit every hue of the rainbow. These changes occur in order of the color spectrum, extending all the way down the pigments tail and across every one of their four limbs.
Unlike a natural pig, pigment legs are approximately twice as long as the length of their body, giving them a distinct, spider-like appearance. They have no hooves, each limb ending in a sharpened point. This alteration allows the creature to move quite fast, and to defend itself from predators.
Consuming pigment meat is incredibly dangerous to one’s sight. Those who have ingested pigment meat find themselves in a state of heightened visual stimulation for approximately six hour. It has been described as one of the most beautiful and glorious visual experiences one can have, but will eventually overwhelm the body and cause permanent visual degeneration or blindness.
