Vacrooms are small mammals from a nearby timeline. The creatures are covered in a thin layer of fur, orange in coloration and featuring a long white stripe that runs the length of their back. The skin of vacrooms is notably saggy, especially the skin across their stomach. They sport four legs, each with three clawed fingers, and have a single flat head. Most of the vacroom’s face is taken up by its exceptionally wide mouth, which is lined with small, pointy teeth. It also sports two beady, wide-set eyes.
While this species can communicate through basic animalistic chatter, they derive their name from the mighty sound they’re known for, a noise that resembles that of a vacuum cleaner abruptly starting and stopping. This “vroom” tone is created whenever a vacroom takes a large, sucking breath inward, which happens quite a lot due to a natural abilities of this species.
Vacroom lungs are unusually large, taking up most of their body’s internal space. If the creature so chooses, they can suddenly fill these lungs to create a strange, balloon-like effect, sucking in air which swiftly undergoes a chemical reaction. As this reaction occurs the air becomes lighter, allowing vacrooms to float.
Vacrooms live off a diet of small insects that float through the air, and they use their sucking ability to hunt and consume these tiny creatures. The sound of a vacroom can be heard as it drifts higher and higher, or makes its sucking attack, creating a distinct sonic presence across any particular landscape that a pack of vacrooms might call home.
This creature thrives in warm weather, and is typically found in arid locations that are far from human interaction.
