(Timeline Tuesday #81)
Bird Brains are a highly intelligent species of humanoid birds from a nearby timeline of existence. Standing between four and five feet in height, these creatures are covered in a thick coat of large features that can range in color, from muted grays and browns to vibrant tropical patterns. Bird Brains stand on two flat feet, similar to those of a human, but featuring three sharp claws at the end. They do not, however, have hands. Instead, the arms of a Bird Brain are giant, powerful wings. These wings allow them the power of flight, although they rarely use it as the process is incredibly tiring. Bird Brains also feature a long tail of feathers, and an enormous orange beak. The most notable thing about this species, however, is their namesake: the bulbous cranium within which their giant brains are held.
While a lack of hands might hinder other humanoid species in the realm of complex tasks, Bird Brains circumvent this with their powerful mental abilities. These creatures are particularly adept at telekinesis, capable of lifting powerful objects and carrying out intricate movements with nothing more than their thoughts. The species is also equipped for telepathic communication, although they prefer to speak with their mouths. Because of their amazing intelligence, most Bird Brains can communicate in hundreds of different languages, spanning across many realities.
While this species does not possess any innate abilities to travel through timelines, they have constructed machines and vessels that allow them safe passage to various worlds. Typically, they do this in the name of exploration and trade, as their incredible intelligence has made war and violence quite rare on their home timeline.
Bird Brains who have decided to stay in this reality will often end up in occupations where their philosophical ideas and complex thoughts are valued, such as teaching, the arts, or scientific research and development.
