Shampools are small, friendly creatures that range in color, from brilliant reds and oranges to deep earthy tones, or playful greens a blues. This species typically features a single prominent hue across most of its body, while sporting a separate colorful design upon its back. Sometimes the color of their nose will match the rest of their body, and other times this beak is white.
These creatures appear unusually similar to the packaging of a plastic shampoo bottle, which is where they derive their name. Many Shampools even sport back markings that feature the words ‘shampoo’, ‘conditioner’ or ‘body wash’. However, unlike most other creatures bearing similarities to household objects, the shampool does not use this as a method of disguise. Instead, it is believed these similarities are a byproduct of evolution on a distant timeline, where pollutants have overwhelmed the world’s oceans.
On our reality, shampools are mostly just kept as pets, swimming freely in suburban backyard pools.
The life of a shampool is spent entirely submerged in water, but while most aquatic species prefer fresh or saltwater, shampools thrive in chlorinated liquid. While pool chemical treatments are specifically designed to create a harmful environment for other inhabitants, shampools find sustenance in these harmful particles. By swallowing gulps of chlorinated water, these creatures are provided everything the need to live a long, healthy life.
