Location: Holo-Suite Entrance

Hello again everyone!

This week I worked on a new location for the Wrestlers story. So far Keen already created a Gym for the werstler girls, but at some point they will of course need a place to wrestle as well :)

Now I’m sure that everyone who played the game before, can guess where this will take place.

In the Holo-Suite :)

Now for the longest time there has been a stack of sport-holo-videos laying in front of that room. And now it’s time to put those to good use!

The Holo-Suite: So how does it work?

Now the Holo-Suite in Space Rescue, creates a realistic looking 3D enviorment where you can do various sport activities.

And like most tech in Space Rescue, I wanted to make the Holo-Suite a somewhat believable concept. So I imagined a way to make a realistic looking 3D enviorment in a room, based on existing technology. And this is how I imagine it could be done:

1. To make a changable enviorment, the holo-suite consistes out of a few dozen ‘Flexagons’; which are flexible panels that can change position. And by re-arranging them, you can create various static enviorments (You could compare it with making a low-poly game landscape).

2. Now to add more realism to the enviorment, the flexagons top layer consists out of thermosensitive memory foam, which can change size and density, depending on it’s given temprature. This way you could create a soft sandy vollyball beach, with some rocks on the side.

3. Additionally, the Flexagons surface is coated with a photochromatic material - which can easily be ‘textured’ (colored) by shining a special low-uv-projector on it.

4. And finally, the room will be brought to life by using regular holo-projections. To add for example birds in the sky, or the illusion of a sea next to a vollyball beach.

Well...that’s the idea at least :)

The Holo-Suite: Art

And this is how I visualized it; the room would consist out of two parts. An entrance area, where you could choose your 3D sport enviorment. And then the actual holo-room behind it, where the 3d enviorment would be created.

So this is the actual holo-room when it's empty.

Now this is the entrance.

And below you can see the various parts I made for it.

Now by cutting the image up like this, I can for example lower the projector- and open the doors with an animation. It also allows me to change the background, and display the workings of the room on the middle window-screen.

Next, you can see a few steps of my drawing proces, going from a rough sketch to a detailed illustration… Haha, sometimes I really worry about the results, when the sketch looks so crappy at first :D
