Weekend Watch Shout Out

Somehow we are back to school here in California — at least in our district. But that doesn’t mean I’ve been responsibly consuming Kdrama! I wrapped up Pachinko (4 episodes in one night) to pod with Amy. And I’m already on episode 6 of Extraordinary Attorney Woo after starting ahem…yesterday.

What are you watching, loving, enduring….

He exceeded mine, as well. I was a little worried when I learned LMH would play Hansu as I knew it was vastly different than any of his other roles and wondered how his fan base would handle this darker character. I thought he did an amazing job and so glad he was able to spread his wings.

I'm finally watching Pachinko, even though I finished the book in March. LMH is exceeding my expectations. The exchange between Hansu and Isak in the tailor's shop? Brilliant acting.

Kara Guminski

started "Today's Webtoon" and "If you wish upon me" to attempt to stave off the impending depression when "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" and "Alchemy of Souls" wrap.

Escape Into Drama

It gets amazing after a few bumpy episodes

Megan Erickson

What do you want to know? This is the first year I’m not going since it started😭

Jules

It can’t be based on the US Little Women, right? Baffling!

Lorna

Ok, so I turned 57 today and my son surprised me with the giant Samsung fold phone that you see in all the K-dramas but rarely in the States. I am leaving behind a 20 year history with iPhone because it is just so cool! On it, I’m watching the last episodes of Woo, plus starting Prison Playbook and starting the new Ji Chang Wook drama. I’m intrigued by the k-pop KCON festival in LA if anyone knows anything about it?

Lorna

I gave up on Jinxed at First after episode 11. It might be the longest I went on a show to then give it up. Such a disappointment considering where it started out. I’m really enjoying Today’s Webtoon so far though!

This week I started by watching the movie Mother(free on Amazon Prime) holy smokes! It was good Finished my second watch of Healer, oh so satisfying Continuing with Extraordinary Attorney Woo, love it Watched the first episode of Ji Chang Wook in If you Wish Upon Me and of course I’m hooked!!! Happy watching everyone!!!

Deb

How is it so far? I was glad to see its on Viki, not Disney+ or Dramacool! I was wondering how traumatized is Ji Chang Wook? Will it be too hurtful to see my imaginary boyfriend getting beat up etc?

LauraPat H

It's very easy to fangirl over Jung Hae In!!

Krista

You guys have convinced me to watch Coffee Prince and I’m on Episode 13. I didn’t think I would buy into the premise but I’m finding it super heartwarming and sweet. I love how much realism is in the relationship dynamics of the SML/SFL.

I finished Our Blues - for me there were too many characters, but I really liked the storyline for Young Ok, played by Han Ji Min (it took me a while to recognize her as the female lead from One Spring Night). This week’s podcast reminded me to continue watching Tomorrow, which is my first kdrama starring Rowoon – is it just me or does anyone else think he has a similar look and personality to Kang Tae Oh (tall, upbeat, sensitive, handsome, funny)? I’m continuing with Attorney Woo as soon as the episodes drop and I watched the first two episodes of If You Wish Upon Me, which appears to have some of my favorite character types (traumatized tsundere male lead, strong and protective female lead). Ji Chang Wook made me cry in both episodes.😭

Kathi

I am in Scotland so I need to finish the recent episode of attorney Yoo.

So I have had more in person discussions with my Yokohama sister in law......so fun to be able to talk about kdramas; I will miss them when they go back to Japan tomorrow( after a 2 week delay because one of the kids tested positive after everyone else recovered from covid, so........) She has watched D.P. and yes we fangirled a lot over Jung Hae In; plus Alchemy of Souls. I am behind in Café Minamdang, up to date in EAW, and Today's Webtoon. The Fringe is on in my city now, so once my company leaves, I may be taking in live theatre.

Enjoy back to school! We are still a way off that in the UK. Currently baking in an unseasonal British heatwave - global warming wreaking havoc on our English gardens 😂 I finally finished Happiness whoop! Great character driven action, and so great to see PHS back on screen. I’m also up to date on EAW - I’m allowing myself to be drawn by its warmth and it’s good intentions rather than nitpick (although the whole gang go to Jeju island is a stretch!). I’m also up to date on Cafe Minamdang which again I’m letting myself enjoy the zany and Seo In Guk carrying the whole show. I started Todays Webtoon, surprised it’s not getting more buzz as am enjoying it and I need to wrap Jinxed at First which I don’t recommend to anyone, despite the fab leads.

Happy back to school season! I'm back to school myself so slowly making my way through Alchemy of Souls and watching trailers for everything that is about to drop - WHAT is Little Women?! Will be watching.
