Pachinko Title Sequence

Hi all. Amy here! So is anyone else obsessed with the show open for Pachinko, or is it just me? Also, I'm all caught up on the drama and don't know how I'm supposed to wait until Friday for ep. 5. Lots of changes from the book, but I'm really enjoying it so far. Who else is watching?

I agree regarding the opening/book. It doesn't really match the show yet either. There was only a tiny hint of it MAYBE at the end of episode 4. We'll see.

Unpopular opinion/hot take: I HATE the opening sequence. It may match the show (which I haven't seen yet), but it totally doesn't fit my idea of the book.

I need to catch up. Amy raved over 4

So I hadn’t seen episode 4 when I posted yesterday. Best episode yet!!! And at the end maybe a hint of why the intro is how it is. I wonder if the whole thing will eventually have more of a tone of joyful triumph than the book did. I’d be here for that.

Becky

YES! That is what Lia and are waiting for, to see if the baby is Noa or if they've somehow combined Noa and Mozazu. Crossing our fingers they didn't get rid of him. From what I've read, this is supposed to be a few seasons, so maybe Noa will just not be featured as a main character in season 1.

I think the intro is fantastic. So fun. I’m just very unclear how it goes with the story, other than being in a Pachinko Parlor. I like it fine so far. Don’t love switching timelines quite so much. Mostly I’m afraid they got rid of Noa as a character completely and I feel confused and sad by that.

Becky

I do feel like they rushed Hansu and Isak. Still, I think the scenes Lee Min-ho has had so far are really good. I just wish there were more. I do think the focus on Sunja and Solomon's parallels are interesting. Love the intertwining of the present and past!

I am! Love that opening....it reminds me of the opening of the Anthony Bourdain food series where he was travelling and eating with the locals; super cool vibes and music. Looking forward to the next episodes of Pachinko; it's interesting and doesn't make me think it's too unfaithful to the novel. (Yet?) Not sure if I am getting much from Lee Min Ho's performance, tho'. Early days?
