Ack. It’s the weekend. Almost missed the round up!!!!
Added 2022-03-20 04:28:04 +0000 UTCSorry sorry! It is our county science fair weekend and I’ve been wrapped up with two kids giving two presentations for judging panels etc and it’s being across the county which in California traffic terms means…I have lived in my car last 24 hours.
Sorry to be so late posting the weekend round up!
I finallllly started Business Proposal and it’s delightful. I wrapped Mood Indigo which is a very dark and twisted Japanese m/m and am going to also watch the sequel The Novelist.
What is burning up your screens this weekend?

I miss these boys so much. I ended up watching To My Star (another BL short) after Semantic Error and while it was totally fine/cute, it just didn't do it for me. I think Semantic Error might be my all time fav at the moment. It's hard to compare it to longer deeper dramas, but gosh did I love it. Weeks later it's still in my head. I'll be curious to hear what you think. My Heart is next on my list to try in the BL short genre, though I have lots of competing dramas in my space at the moment so I may not get to it soon.

2022-03-23 16:26:50 +0000 UTCLate to the party, but just here to say I am loving Semantic Error (though the first couple episodes I was definitely worried that it was a bit too bullying). Just have a couple episodes left! Also, I finished Sungkyunkwon Scandal over the weekend and really enjoyed it on second watch (enjoyed it lots on first watch too, but it's been years since I first saw it and I had mostly forgotten it). Anyone who wants something like Coffee Prince in Joseon era, this is it. It's got gender swap, enemies to friends to lovers, forced proximity, and lots of great male-male and pretend male-male friendships.

2022-03-23 00:27:28 +0000 UTCKim Kap Soo is one of my favorite old man actors! And I love that he plays all kinds of characters. Like, the complicated honored father/political baddie he played in Sungkyunkwon Scandal. And a lovely lifelong friend and coconspirator for Rosa in Hospital Playlist. Definitely interested in seeing him as a villain in Chief of Staff!

2022-03-23 00:14:57 +0000 UTCI dropped Thirty Nine, the end of episode 6 was just a melo too far. Full set of spoiler filled reasons why on my Instagram post (@kdrama.this) if you want to read more why’s. Still on 2521 but getting a bit draggy and not sure why Kim Taeri is still a schoolgirl…. Am on episode 8 of Vincenzo which I am enjoying but not loving. I get why Tacyeon was getting all the love though!

2022-03-21 21:25:19 +0000 UTCI think I will still finish it. I'm actually interested in the character arc of the ex boyfriend. He seems like he has some potential for growth, but...it is a melodrama. After 'we are breaking up' I really hesitate with melodramas, that one messed me up. But I just like the two leads so much in forecasting (and I appreciate the older woman younger guy vibe, haha, makes me feel like I've still got it maybe 🤣).

2022-03-20 21:39:36 +0000 UTCIt’s a bummer forecasting is losing steam. I know many people were excited about it

2022-03-20 21:39:22 +0000 UTCI tried watching School Nurse Files some time ago, reacted much like you. Creepy and no characters that I wanted to care about. I gave up after a couple of episodes.

2022-03-20 21:26:23 +0000 UTCI’m finishing 2 dramas that have MLs from current and recent dramas: Marriage, Not Dating (stars Yeon Woo-jin now in 39), which is fun but with loads of family angst; and Come and Hug Me (Jang Ki-yong who was recently in Now, We are Breaking Up), which is very angst-filled (BTW, I am struggling to love his character in that one—he mainly stares and looks blankly and hardly utters a word most of the time). I will watch Forecasting’s new episodes; I understand why many have dropped it, but Song Kang makes me happy and I’m mostly in for Park Min-young, too. Yoon Park’s character makes me want to throw things at the TV screen.

2022-03-20 14:46:46 +0000 UTCI am losing steam with forecasting, so I watched Business Proposal and thought it was great so far. Since I finished those it is on to My Secret Romance, which seems cute/light so far. I also recently watched an episode of School Nurse Files, but honestly it might be too creepy for me. Has anyone else watched it?

2022-03-20 13:59:49 +0000 UTCFull disclosure: I binged Reply 1988 at 1.5x speed. But I think it would work like Hospital Playlist. There is more of a plot but each episode is more like hanging out with friends than attempting to follow a story arc. Very immersive once you get into it, which for me was after the first episode.

2022-03-20 12:18:11 +0000 UTCToss up between catching up on 39 (1 ep) or 21-25 (7 ep). I'm back to the office so trying to go to bed earlier every night...so probably watching 39. Having finished Something in the Rain, I don't think it could do anything to make me stop watching

2022-03-20 12:15:33 +0000 UTCI’m halfway through Our Beloved Summer and am in love with Choi Ung. Also wrapping up Not Me a Thai BL drama that has been coming out weekly on YouTube.

2022-03-20 11:24:28 +0000 UTCAs I am STILL waiting for all the recent releases to get dubbed into more obscure languages (aka French and German) for my region, I turned to Chief of Staff and oh my goodness, for a drama with zero romance (because fundamentally that’s what we’re all here for!) it is totally absorbing and fascinating. Of course the stellar cast would bring it to any drama (Lee Jung Jae and Shin Min-a, Lee Elijah) but the writing is spot on, fast paced and gripping. I could do with a few less animal analogies but hey. Oh and for a villain, Kim Kap-Soo is stomach churningly awful (so really good!). Most of his informal scenes involve him eating huge quantities of food while snarling at someone and I swear his eating deserves to be a character in its own right. So all in all, if you don’t mind a political led drama, you like men in suits and you can’t get enough of Lee Elijah’s gentle beauty, then this is the drama for you!

2022-03-20 10:40:00 +0000 UTCKeeping up with 25 21 and Forecasting....also Military Prosecutor An Bo Hyun ( no shower scene yet tho'🤔). Business Proposal on Mon/Tues is my favourite right now. Snowdrop is another one I am watching...Jung Hae In is good but I want to see him in a contemporary romance again. Will continue with 39 just to see if the writers can redeem themselves.....

2022-03-20 06:07:44 +0000 UTCQuestion: I used Hospital Playlist as a hangover cure between shows I binged. It was nice to revisit a happy world as I tried to let ones go that I had been really immersed in. Worked pretty well since I enjoyed the characters but wasn’t riveted by any plot. Would Reply 1988 work in a similar way or no? Any other suggestions?
