Semantic Error: We Need to Talk

Lia and I are OBSESSED with this Korean BL, and I'm sure Amy will watch it once she's finished Mr. Sunshine. Who's seen it? How adorable are these two? Are you like me and also watching all their interviews and content because they are cute little beans with great chemistry?

Let's chat. And if you haven't seen it, it's a short, 8-episode drama on Viki that will make your heart happy. Enemies to lovers at its best!

Park Seo Ham (Jae-young) was stunning to look at but for me his character came across as aggressive and stalkery (is that a word?) and poor little Sangwoo - he just looked like a wee boy. Fortunately, the second half of the series had Sangwoo establishing boundaries and even taking the lead (at times). So, in the end, it was a good snack.

Finished this today and I was absolutely smitten! Reminds me so much of one of my favorite graphic novels! Definitely one of my favorite dramas I’ve watched this month 😍

This was my first BL and also my first “short” drama. I thought the leads had excellent chemistry - so sweet, but also had some spice. I also have watched several of their interviews because they’re just so damn sweet with each other! You can tell they genuinely like each other and had a great time making this drama. I thought it was a good enemies to lovers without being too harsh on the enemies side. Will definitely rewatch anytime I need a palate cleanser!! ❤️❤️

I’ve finished it now, and I enjoyed the romantic buildup. Cute and happy at the end, but “ever after?” I wonder. Also, I think the Dex subplot was rushed and not entirely clear in the finale. Did Jae-young go to France? Did they both go?

Mr Heart in Viki is one of my favorite BL dramas. Movie length and just so cute.

Funny you say this -- I loved the toying and taunting and I also thought to myself "ACK, why do I like this so much?! It's not nice." I can totally respect where you're coming from and I felt weird that I liked it as much as I did.

I don’t know why I wasn’t quite as enthusiastic. I didn’t get any real sense as to why the two leads fell for each other. But I look forward to listening to your thoughts. Also, I’m curious in Korea if BL leads get typecast in those dramas or whether actors there can easily move between BL and FL/ML dramas. This drama did make me interested in seeing other BL dramas if anyone has recommendations.

I’ve just started this (2 episodes), and while I can envision where it’s going soon (which it has to, with 8 episodes total), Jae-young is irritating me. I don’t enjoy his toying, taunting behavior towards Sang-woo. Yes, I understand where it’s coming from, and I know it’s going to change, but so far, it’s not charming me ( or Sang-woo, for that matter). And yes, I will stick with it and expect to be happy by the end…

This show was EVERYTHING I want in a drama. I rewatched the last episode this morning before work because I'm so into it. I've never rewatched any dramas other than a tiktok edit here and there. The hangover is REAL.  I want a full length drama like this!  BL or not BL -- either way -- I just specifically want characters with insane chemistry who sort out their own shit and move toward each other, stumbling over their issues as they tackle them, dealing with what life offers, but not endless cycling of the SAME THING like so many dramas do.  Maybe I'm into shorts and didn't know it. I'll be heading this direction for more, I'm sure of it. And these two boys specifically are just ON FIRE. GOOD LORD. I'm seriously not sure I've ever seen chemistry this fast, this sustained, and this good.  But now Park Seo Ham just enlisted in the military and we won't see him for a while. NOOOOOOOOOO.

I watched it this weekend and LOVED it. This is one of the best BL dramas I have seen. I haven't watched any interviews with them- but will do after this. :) Enemies to lovers is a favorite trope and I loved the contrast of the leads. So great.

I just watched this yesterday (lazy Sundays are sacred) and I LOVED it. They had such great chemistry and the switch from enemies to lovers felt natural. This and Painted With You have made me eager for more quality short form BL romance. Plus I don’t think Viki gets enough credit for putting the translations for the songs playing. Netflix is lacking.
