Erza & Summer Trip End (09.18.24)

Hello! First off, it’s been a while since I’ve drawn Erza hasn’t it?

I’ve returned from Japan a few days and have been pretty happy with my productivity since. I’ve finally gotten some time to get around to making some artwork for here so I can also post about the second half of my trip!

So the second half I did go to Osaka from Tokyo which was my first time going there. My friend and I went to a baseball game to see the Giants which was a pretty great experience, the crowd has a lot of energy despite it being a low scoring game and the fans of the losing team had a pretty good attitude by the end as well. I’d definitely like to go to another baseball game in Japan and probably will some day. Then explored explores in Osaka a bit including Denden town, the aquarium and Osaka castle. Denden town was interesting because it’s like Osaka’s Akiba which is quite welcome, it even had the best ramen I’ve ever had. We had that ramen twice more after the first time. We went to Kyoto for a day and did a climb up the side of a little mountain to see the monkey sanctuary, it was a great climb but it was also extremely hot that day and we didn’t prepare with umbrellas to block the sun, so the by time we went back down and to kyoto itself we were super tired and just did a walk through another area before returning home. Kyoto’s area is pretty beautiful, I’d like to go back there some day as well but more prepared and ready to spend because it does have some higher prices due to high tourism. Another day we went to Universal studios, which had a cool Chainsaw Man 4D special just starting, it was pretty charming. Went on a few roller coasters which has super long lines, and again it was a super hot day.

I did end up liking Osaka more as we were leaving but the heat in summer for Japan is pretty brutal, every day is like 35 degrees Celsius with extreme humidity, I’m not sure if I’d actually recommend visiting during summer unless you’re up for a challenge. So after Osaka we went back to Tokyo for a few days before finally returning home. These days were kind of a wind down, lots of Akiba trips, Ueno and Odaiba. It was a fun trip. Seeing Osaka’s prices started to get me thinking about visiting it again for a longer period of time, do less touristy things and just focus on my art abroad as a way to get away from home. This is an idea because if I were to rent a full month of rooms there, it’s actually much cheaper than going out to rent somewhere at home (in the middle of nowhere) by a few hundred… It’s really just me yearning to get away from home like usual.

Oh right, we also saw Sumo live at a stadium in Tokyo, that was also cool! So much to try and remember.

Anyway thanks for reading and of course thank you for supporting me here as an artist. I’d like to have more art ready soon.

Hopefully you can!

Definitely a goal for next year ya. I don’t see why I should put it off any longer if it’s just a matter of working enough and managing my budget right. The real nuisance about it is getting a decently priced plane ticket

The Erza looks really great! I'm glad you seemed to have such a fun time in Japan! I really hope I can go there someday...

You had ana amazing time over there. I'm taking notes, since you really got the chance to go to more than just Tokyo. I do remember the rides at Universal being long too, and the pizza was crazy expensive. But the Chainsaw Man ride sounds great, would be crazy to have that in America. But tbh, if you save up the amount, taking an extended trip to Japan for a few months to rest, get in tune with your art and practice and develop your style doesn't seem like a bad idea. Next year's goals, maybe?
