WIP WEDNESDAY: FF Summer Update

Figured I'd update y'all on the progress of the Final Fantasy Summer art campaign! The past three weeks saw work started on Tifa, Lightning, and Noctis--however, between week 2 and 3, I began to consider a colouring style change.
This consideration came about as I worked on Lightning--I wasn't feeling completely satisfied with the colouring. I had originally planned on cell-shading, but the more I worked on that, the less I really vibed with it. I went back to Tifa and created a more painted variation, and took it to Bluesky where I asked folks which they preferred. The comments were more or less evenly split, but the reactions for the painted style felt stronger. Ultimately, I felt more satisfied with the painted style, and with Noctis I started going with that style. Lightning will be receiving a revision down the line--I need to whittle down my current workload before I pile on more work, after all. 😵💫
Will this be a lot of work? Not really. i have the base flats as my foundation, and it's faster for me to do a more painted style anyway! This will also enable me to better render muscles and the like, too 😏
There's still work to be done, of course--the lighting and shading needs to be stronger in the painted pieces, and the backgrounds will need some work.
There's more characters to work on in the set--and these will be available as rewards when they are complete! I'm also looking into zine options for anyone interested!
